The fletcher class are DD's not DE's as shown on the screen shots.
-
Man HT has been busy lately...Is the weather in TX bad or something. Apperantly it must be, cause it seems they have been coming into work, and not going fishing...LOL
Seriously though, wtg HT and company. Ships and the other things you have been working on look good.

Ever think CT might be finished?
-
Yep, i cant wait for this new patch to come out with all the new goodies. Keep it up guys

Keep it up guys!!
The update is gonna be HUGE!!

Nicer looking targets :aok
Being able to spawn ships off of CV groups or Ports like Destroyers or Cruisers would be a nice feature indeed.

I guess I made a typo :) Our old one's were DE's and had must've had DE on the brain instead of DD's ..... I mean, who wouldn't want a DD?:rofl
-
They look just great.
But -- Have to admit that my first response was "Crap! At least another week till release!"
-
Great ship redos!! :O
Still wish when you're in the carrier tower it looks like you're in the bridge, but stil great work!
EDIT: A thought occurs to me. Does the carrier sink normally now or do all ships still nose down?
-
Looks like the differant guns mabye?

Can we man those single 5" on the destroyers??

New ship 3D models.
The Fletcher class was a DD though fellows.
And CV-15 was a Ticonderoga Class CV ;)
-
Waffle, Could you possibly take a screen shot of the Carrier for me?
With this angle if you could.

It's not related to CT. The stuff they're working on now won't be seen in CT at all (not the first iteration, 8th AF bombing Germany). It could be they're still working on CT but now they have enough done to continue working on other game aspects.
P.S. I second that "oh sweet jesus" comment.

CV-9 Essex 24 1943 - 1976 This class constituted the Twentieth Century's largest class of heavy warships, with 24 ships built. Although thirty-two were originally ordered, six were cancelled before construction, and two were cancelled after construction had begun. (16 ships of the CV-14 Ticonderoga class are considered either a separate class or a "Long hull" group of the Essex class, depending on source). A number of these ships soldiered on into the mid-1970s as light attack and antisubmarine carriers, and some as Boxer-class amphibious assault ships

I know it's not for CT. I'm saying it because they haven't pumped out new additions such as now in the past while they were working on CT.

How about adding a BB to the Task Force. Most Carrier escorts had a BB in it.
-
Dogg, have you always been a Aces High CM Staff Member?

Are we going to get the OS2U Kingfisher Float plane for the Cruiser to be used as a spotter for the 8 inch guns?
It would be neat if there was some way to tie in observation of the shelling with a plot map and with the observer selecting locations on his the plot map, the guns would receive the corrections, yeah it would be an easy mode thing, but since we don't have fire controllers on the cruiser or Stereographic range finders.
Or you could have it that the observer uses his mouse to click on the intended target and have the correction sent to the gunners.
It would take the Naval portion to a whole new level and add another dimension to the game.
Good job! all the same.
-
The first one will be called the HMS Blackpig
The crew would be
Master Bates
Sea Man Staines
And Roger the cabin Boy ....
-
Watch out for my B26's.:D
-
Anyone notice the plane rails on the end of the Baltimore Class CA? Could it be...maybe....nah I won't get your hopes up.
-
Look up 3 post's from yours :D
-
I guess thats one person that noticed.
-
Not going to get a seaplane. For one, historically the plane would be the only thing in the sky, but in this game it would be shot down in half a heartbeat by the 30+ planes furballing around the CV (forget about flying far enough to see where the shells land!), and for two it would require a fundamental code change regarding water and aircraft to incorporate a floatplane into the game.
It's just not going to happen.
-
OK, Waffle, HTC and staff, now I gotta ask...What other suprises are headed our way? And how big an update is this gonna be? (Download all night?) Awesome job on the surface vessels, btw.
I kinda wonder what we're gonna see next...
T-34/85?
Ki-43?
Me-410?
a task group BB?
seaplanes?
a SAR (Search and Rescue) function, With accompanying aircraft?
-
SAR? No. No point. It's not an issue and never will be in this game
Seaplanes? No. Not without a fundamental change to the very game engine itself. All these new planes/ships are changing objects, not the base code itself.
T-34/85? 90% sure that's a "no" -- if they wanted to add that, they'd have added it when they added the T-34/75 we have. It's a new 3rd generation graphics model. Chances are they're updating old models or adding new ones. The T-34 fits neither category, so I think "no" to an upgrade.
Ki-43/Me410/bigger boat: This is totally up in the air. I would think (hypothetically) if they had added a bigger cruiser to the fleet that they'd have showed it off with the rest of the fleet.
It is interesting that this is the biggest update HTC has ever done (aside from AH1 to AH2), and I wonder how far they're planning on going!

Okay, now im kinda freaked out.
Every time i think HTC is goin' to remake or redo something, i have been dead on every time, and whats more...they release a screen the day after, each time.
creepy, thanks HTC..but stay outta my head.

HE-111?
-
Karma needs to start thinking, "Judy Judy Judy!"
-
I see torps on the DD...will they work?
-
I once put in a request to add a new "gun" to the DD, and that would be the torpedo tubes. You'd get to turn them left or right but would have to follow the fleet heading so it would take skill.
I would love to see something like this.
-
Judy, doesnt that beast have a torp and x1 .20mm in each wing?
judy-111/brewsterjudy-111/brewsterjudy-111/brewsterjudy-111/brewsterjudy-111/brewster
there.
-
That would be great if the ship comes with torps, add a new aspect to CV vs. CV battles.

Nope, it's the inline-engined with a DB601 clone. Successor to the D3a val. Internal 500lb and 2 wing bombs (250lb?) maybe a torp, maybe more ord, I don't know. Very fast for its time due to the inline engine and streamlining.
-
It looks like more guns were added to the CV, Cruiser, and DD. I hope we get more manable 5" guns and in one of the photos on the DD it looked like manable twin 20mm guns you see in most of the CV war video clips of seamen shooting down Kamikazis.
If they added a BB they should add a spotter position on top of the tower. I don't know much about war ships so I don't really know what you would call it, but from that view you can see for miles.
Are the large guns that look like the 5" on the DDs are those just flak, arty, or both?

I believe they called the "Fire Control" or "Gun Control" I think when you are setting in the main guns you are actually doing both?
-
Waffle great work bud!
now GET TO WORK on the toast-waffle plane : P hehehehehe

Wish the DE main turrent could be manned...............

Next update is gonna be frakkin huge.
And I'm wondering what they are adding and not telling us about- remember when the P-47N was snuck in with the update? Wasn't the Spit VIII a sneak-in too?

-
I'd rather see the 410, but the He-111 would be nice...
Especially if they give it all the ordnance options the real one had.
-
i was talking to one of the skinners and they said that he got an e-mail asking him to do a skin for the HE-111. I believe he said a Spanish skin but i cant recall.
-
Don't listen to the troll :)
I know for a fact HTC won't accept spanish skins. Spain declared neutrality.

Guy sent me a PM which stated in part..
Just thought Id get one step ahead of the game here. I see its becoming likely that my wish for the HE 111 will come true, and I just thought Id submit this now lol. Hope you like the pik to, I know how picky HTC can get so I made sure the imige I got was in coler and taken back then. I saw the USS Kidd a couple years ago when I went to Baton Rouge for Nationals bowling tournament, right across the street from the convention center... somewhere I got pictures of that trip...
-
Hope this iceberg is a pretty deep one!
Great work waffles you really have been sold into white slavery.
Now back to work we want more more more!
I'm hoping for maybe another plane and some more re-worked cockpits Typh/temp or maybe one of the Japanese.
As another wish I would like to see names on who is in what gunner position and maybe an option so that if you out rank that person you can kick them out of the gun!
More control options over the CV, a lock down of the flight deck and maybe seperate control of the cruiser from the main CV. So you could keep the carrier off shore and move in the cruiser on its own.

Way too many players mis-use the gun positions to risk letting those of them who happen to have a good score have that sort of monopoly...
-
I'd like to see icon tags on the guns but I'm against the rank boot option
-
ok how about Vehicle/boat rank only.
A good gunner is what is needed to save a ship or carry out the necessary shelling.
The rank boot option is already in place for overall command why not for a lowly gun position?
If you can see who is in the gun I would only use it to kick "newer" players out only and even then when it matters.
Of course even experienced players may not be that good when it comes to naval warfare but it would provide an incentive to stay alive and improve score.
LYNX back me up here ;)
-
sounds like a solid way to keep the good gunners good and the bad gunners bad, if i may say so bruv. the new guys have got to learn somewhere and having 'mr. rank' kick you out of the gun every five minutes is no way to improve.
-
Tough loving bat.
CV action quite often provides good solid furballs and they would last slightly longer if people could shoot (and pork)!
The new CV group will have plenty of positions and 5inch is where its at. Really annoying to be holding a good cap and then see buffs low on the deck carpet bomb a CV you intended to land on with your last drop of fuel,
The training arena and offline can provide practice.
I would also like to see guys in gun positions rank as killed if blown up but thats a different story.
-
anyway they need to get the hell out of the gun and up a damned airplane!
Learn to fly rather than sit in a gun. (usually the 40mm right next to my 5inch on constant fire at stuff 5k away)
-
I agree that CV's would last a lot longer if newer players would learn the value of the pork.
The same thing that has led to the decilne in porking has led to the rise in hangar killing. You no longer see any effects of taking down a fields supplies. Yeah the ords going down means they cannot bomb you, but making the hangars flat means they cannot up anything at all. Once upon a time this could be accomplished by taking out the fuel bunkers as well as the ordinance and it could be accomplished with much less wailing and hand wringing there is these days.

Would battlle ships be a lousy addition to AH? 11 to ?? inch guns. I really don't know the diameter of the large guns used in WW2. I picked up the 11" number from a vid on the Scharnhorst (or another smallish German battleship).
Boats are vulnerable to bombs. As they should be. Battlewagon, could having them not but help enhance AH?
Waffle, wonderful work on the the Cruiser and Carrier! Last week I caught myself yearning for something more up to the standards of AH as displayed by other updates.
