Title: Vid Setting?
Post by: Strip on February 20, 2008, 01:25:53 PM
I have a 22" Gateway and when I play AH2 it only plays on about 19" of the screen. Is this a AH2 issue or a vid card issue? I have a dual core AMD Anthlon 64 running Vista with a NVidia 8600 GT OC (factory over clocked) 512mb video card. I will be running hi res pack and would like to be able to use the entire screen.

Any ideas?

It's either your card or your monitor under the "scaling". You'll find it in your video card settings under "monitor scaling" or "scaling"....

Basically, the resolution you have set in-game doesn't match the monitor. How it displays will depend on the monitor scaling selection. Either it will "stretch" the pixels to fit the monitor (this blurs pixels and is not ideal) or it keeps the aspect ratio and resolution, but centers it on your monitor.

You can set your AH to play at your monitor size. If you don't see it in the AH video settings, check "show all resolutions"

And if that doesn't work, close AH and go into the AH2\settings\video8.cfg file and edit it in notepad with the proper resolution. Save, and restart AH and it should work fine.

SUCCESS......partially

The screen is now full. Thank you Krusty!

However the hi res pack has rendered AH2 completly unstable. Whats the proper way to uninstall it?

Also is there a way to make the radio text smaller......its nearly 7/16" tall on my screen!

Thanks again.

Its worth noting that after installing the Hi Res pack I still run 60 fps in the tower with it limited to 60. Its unstable but when it does run the game is working fine just crashes intermittently.

Simply go into the AH main menu video settings and set the texture size to 512 or lower. There's no need to uninstall, per se.

There might be an option in the in-game settings for text buffer size. I can't recall (it's been so long).

Be sure to set the resolution to your native monitor resolution (often the max resolution for that monitor)
