Title: The "C" Hog
Post by: Rich46yo on February 20, 2008, 01:33:43 PM: I just flew one in the TA for the first time. This is an amazing aircraft. I think when I get to the stage of taking out perk planes this is going to be the one for me. About the only weakness I can see with it is building "E" back up after slowing down.

Am I wrong?

Post by: TUXC on February 20, 2008, 02:24:06 PM: All of the Corsairs are great planes. Don't tell Stampf, but the Corsair is actually my favorite WWII fighter. The only other weakness besides acceleration and climb (which do not apply to the F4U-4) is that recovering from a spin can be problematic at low altitude.

Doing OK too. Oh I still suck but Im winning some fights and getting kills.

Post by: Bosco123 on February 20, 2008, 05:09:30 PM: I love the Chog when flying off the carrier. Its smooth in-flight and easy to handle. Vulching is the best thing when I fly it, couple of shots and the plane is dead.
Speed is hard to keep up because it is a bit heavy with those 20mm; in that aspect of the airplane, its like the 190.
Remeber to use flaps if you get into sticky situations, because it always helps.

As for the Chog, it is a very stable aircraft if you treat her right. And those 4 20mm cannons only need a few pings to knock the wing off of almost any aircraft. I suppose that's why it is my squad's plane of choice:)

I remember once i shot down a 262 from 1.5k in this plane. It was a beautiful sight. The rounds are powerful and the ballistics are awesome.

I don't fly a Chog, but I was becoming fairly profecient at it at one time, flew it in the MA's, and downed a plane from 1.2k out.

Heck yes it is. Note that they used RLM74 / 75 when that plane should have been RLM 82 / 83 with RLM76 undersides.

Come in dump your ord, and hang around to take pot shots at anything else that shows up.
