Seems the TAXES have just gotten too high?

I didn't leave there due to taxes but to what I saw as wrong headed thinking.
Perhaps that wrongheaded thinking lead to this?

Interesting statistics, I notice that my state(IL) ranked worse then even California on that "Top 10 Losers" list at #45.

yep.. high taxes and left wing nanny state. I guess that is the same with IL.
Left wingers make it unpleasant to live in a place. The weather here is good.. lots of beautiful countryside.. but... every where you look... someone is scolding you and charging you (for your own good and to save the planet). I am about fed up with the place myself.
For the people I talk to here.. the left wing nanny state is causing them to want to leave every bit as much as the taxes.
But then.. it is the same thing now isn't it? can't have one without the other.

Trends, like the weather move west to east in this country. I have lived on both coasts. NY is not far behind CA, and I can only imagine the hellstorm of "goodness" coming when the shedevil is elected.
lazs2 has the right of it though...can't have one without the other.

You may have noticed but the states that keep their people of gain people are the ones that have strong second amendment rights.. the ones losing population are left wing ones with strong anti gun rights agendas.
It is just an indicator.. gun rights are the canary in the coal mine.. the loss of them indicates some noxious gas.
the bastion of lefty liberalism.. higher taxes are a part of this.. PC.. nanny state.. all follow. along with crime and loss of individual rights and eventually... economic ruin.

Wow imagine that, kaliphornians leaving the promised land. Well no feces sherlock! Arizonans have known that for over 15 years now. The exodus has been steadily growing and the cookie cutter houses in the major metropolitan areas as well as the significantly increased population growth were pretty darn obvious for the last 20 years. Taxes and taking advantage of the bloated real estate market in kaliphornia were very common reasons for relocating. Now the prices for housing in Arizona have risen significantly and they are starting their own bubble with construction starting to slow.
They shoulda put a wall on the border and limited immigration from kaliphornia 2 decades ago! :furious

trax1, at least you are in Carol Stream. I'm in Chicago and the taxes are killing me. I'm a city employee and can't move to the suburbs. Between Daley and Stroger I don't know what is going to be next.:cry

Yeah I'll give you that, taxes in Cook County are outragous, I've seen a pack of cigarettes selling for around $7-8 a pack there. Not only that but the price for a place to live in the city is insane, and then gas prices are always more expensive in Cook. Anytime I travel into the city I try to buy nothing.

Illinois is well on its way, if it's not there already, in matching California and Massachusetts in progressive enlightenment and all that comes with it and the burden required to support it.
On an Obama note, that is reflected in his mentor Dick Durbin, and his supporter Teddy Kennedy. He's an ILL Democratic party boy all the way. Hillery is practically a Goldwater Republican by comparison. Or at least the Clintons have show the ability to give up the ultra progressive platform and shift to the middle if the political will does not support their agenda. I think Obama is a bigger risk in that regard, especially with the Cult of Personality that give him somewhat of an extended mandate to impose his "change."

It seems that the ones who are better off in California are the Chinese, Koreans, Armenians, etc that I used to work with back in downtown L.A.
The groups mentioned above have no problem setting up and maintaining businesses there.
