Title: Mindnao, now!
Post by: Krusty on February 21, 2008, 01:14:46 PM
I'm getting tired of the "old" maps with totally unrealistic geography. 2k sheer drop ravines that have 2k sheer cliffs on the other side. Artificial 10k mountains around 90% of EVERY field (you know the map I'm talking about :furious ).

I think these maps suck! While it's nice to go down nostalgia blvd (next to Memory Lane), we need to get back to maps with semi-realistic terrain, at least terrain that doesn't prohibit fights, which some of the old maps do.

I'm not saying I want a flat map or anything like that, I just prefer/crave/NEED a decent map that has terrain variation that's NOT totally artificial like the recent exhumation of old AH1-style maps.

Mindnao, now!

FesterMA, today!

Frac3, you'll see!

Trinity, baby!

Ndisles... uh.... er.... D'oh!

Baltic's not so bad, mind you, and I've seen it in rotation with the other maps I don't like, but it's a small map and folks want big ones.

Let's get back to the better large-sized maps. Why are they not in use? Is it a problem with updating the maps after the terrain object or terrain tile updates?

You can fly this map if you can pronounce it.

I've heard it pronounced over vox at least 15 different ways through the years.

But, yes! bring it back, I loved the hills and valleys.

YES  please bring it back.. Mind was the first map i ever loged on to and even though it seemed a bit odd as far a base layout it was an exelent map and I see no reason that it should have been removed...  Trinity was also a fave..

Is it just me or does it seem that many of the more unique maps have been done away with in favor of more equal (or as equal as possible) and suposidly fair maps?    I could be wrong  but I have knoticed that HTC seems to love that pinwheel map that gives us the never ending stalemate from hell... :D

I think it's not so much that any of the maps are bad maps, some are better then others depending on what you like to do in the game, but big small or medium in size variety is the spice of life.

there must be a reason why there aren't more maps in the rotation, i'd just like to know why that is, but then ,other then something that looks different, i'd like to see "donut", but other then that, it all good.

No to frac.  That was one map I hated as well as the old pizza.

Bring back Trinity, Festerma, and Donut.

wonder what it would take to upgrade the terrain? .. i.e. smooth rolling hills instead of jagged pointy angles everywhere..

the quality and beauty of the aircraft and vehicles in the game.. and the terrain is..  uugh.

To be honest, nobody knows anything regarding this game. Why do we have such a small selection of available maps at any given time? Where the hell is CT? What grants consideration for something that is requested to be updated? These questions are far more important to both the casual and serious gamer than where the custom maps are.

Agree 1000%.   I find artificial terrains (circular or square maps) so distasteful I often log right back out immediately.

The AvA has been running a war.   How about doing the same thing in the MA for one weekend as a one off.

Kinda like a 48 hour Scenario.  A real map like the German/Italian one.  If it gets reset back to normal.

No, thank you. Why trying to make the MA another AvA? If I want that, I could go there...

aww come on lusche.

Just as a "one off"   !

I think people will appreciate a historical planeset just for a short while.   People go where the numbers are if you had no choice i'm sure you would enjoy yourself.

But I have a choice and I do not want to have no choice because YOU would like to play it that way.
(And I currently do even play a lot in an arena with even less numbers than AvA ;) )

LOL! That's ridiculous!
I do a lot of different things. I try I out when & what I want to try. I played  in all arenas, EW, MW, LW, AvA, SEA, and I'm continuing to play in most of them. When I like. Where I like.  Flying almost every plane available. And that is "stuck in my ways?"

And now you come and tell me and everybody else we all HAVE to play the AvA way.. again, just because you do like it?

There's a reason the AvA is empty. You put the same settings under a different name (i.e. LW Blue) and you'll get a short burst followed by a mass exodus to MW or EW.

This is possibly the stupidest thing I've read on the forums all week, and that's quite an accomplishment.

We already have the ability, recent terrain makers however chose not to use the method.

It's called Grayscale, and it works very nicely.

There's a new terrain getting final touch-ups, head over in this (http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=61) direction to have a look.

the only thread referring to greyscale is empty just says "deleted" in it.
