Title: Dont Tase Me, Mr. NYC Store Owner!!! ARGHH!!! AH!! AHHH!! OWW!! - VIDEO LINK
Post by: SIG220 on February 21, 2008, 07:25:43 PM
A rather fiesty New York City neighborhood store owner stood his ground against two young punks who tried to rob his store.   One of the youths even had a gun.

Due to New York's restrictions on legal gun ownership, the store owner had no firearm.   But what he did have was a Taser!!

He managed to get the drop on the pair, and order them to he ground.   When one tried to run, the Taser went into action.

You can pick up the rest of the story, by watching a video showing the actual events, here on this web page:

http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=3906861&cl=6541765&ch=4226726&src=news

The clicking sound you will hear is the actual sound the Taser makes while it is delivering its shocks.   Also note that the dot of bright light you will see on the criminals is caused by the laser aiming sight of the Taser.   Also note the coiled wires, which are delivering the shocks.

The video even shows the store owner reloading the Taser, and asking the other criminal on the floor if he wants to get tased too.   :lol :lol

This is the best Taser Video yet!

That's awesome.

Still, I wonder why the ACLU doesn't go after the govt for forcing the store owner to confront a gun weilding assailant with a taser...  Seems somehow...  unconstitutional.  Yea.  That's the word, unconstitutional.

Gradual communist take over of the government is  better if the populace doesn't have guns when they figure it out. ;)

It looks like the store owner had bought the latest advanced Taser, which has a videocam attached to it.   It was designed mainly to allow police officers to cover their butts when they tase someone, as it records the confrontation, and thus provides proof of what actually happened.

It even has an infrared light on it, so it can even record in total darkness.   This is a pretty expensive taser, and must have cost the store owner big bucks.   But then again, it is probably the best thing the store owner was able to legally buy and have to use in his business for protection from hoods like these.

Here is a link to a video showing all of the advanced features of TaserCam:

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=2f9_1173307515

Alas, this videocam only fits the larger X26 model of Taser, and not the new compact civilian C2 model that can be easily concealed.

So if I ever end up having to tase someone with my C2, I'm afraid there will be no video for me to post online.  :cry :cry

I'd bet the store owner has had more than enough experiance at being held up. Good for him he was able to do something this time.

Wow, I checked, and you are absolutely right.   New York is one of 7 states ( along with the District of Columbia ), where Taser ownership is totally illegal.

I guess this means that this store owner has to go to jail.   That sure sucks big time.    :O :O

The states where Tasers are illegal for civilians to own are:

Hawaii
Massachusetts
Michigan
New Jersey
New York
Wisconsin
Rhode Island

Over here tazers, tear gas and pepper gas are classified under the firearms law as firearms, which requires a license. Without a license you'll be charged with the illegal posession of a firearm. Quite stupid :(
Although it's rather easy to get a permission for tear/pepper gas if the job is suspectible to violence. Although, as a child I found my mothers tear gas and managed to spray a bit of it on myself. I haven't seen tear gas since then :D

You know, these states also have some of the most restrictive gun laws too.  Just exactly what are honest citizens living in these states supposed to use to protect themselves from hoodlums like these punks?

I could understand all of the states located in the Northeast being on the list, since they are all so very liberal.     But are Wisconsin and Michigan that liberal also???   I did not realize that.

I know.
Im in one of them

Maybe if my brother in law was allowed to be armed he wouldnt have gotten pistol whipped and robbed a couple of weeks ago instead of hoping that "superman" was going to show up at the last moment to protect him.

Instead he had to jump out of the cab he was driving and run for his life.
hoping he didnt get shot in the back in the proccess

Seems the criminal had no problem getting a gun.
But my brother in law couldnt get one (legally) because he was unable in someones eyes to show that as a cab driver he might need one.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother in law.   I hope he was not badly hurt.

Unfortunately my Dad was also pistol whipped and robbed just 40 ft from our home in California early one Sunday morning while walking our dog.   He had walked 6 blocks to go buy the Sunday newspaper at the corner store, and was nearly home when he was attacked in broad daylight.  It was only 7:30am on a quiet Sunday morning.

He had the dog's leash in one hand, and the big Sunday newspaper in the other.   When he was slow and fumbled somewhat in getting his wallet out ( due to his hands all being full ), the robber viciously beat him on the head with his handgun.   The police figured that it was the front sight of the gun that dug into his neck and cut him so badly, causing him to bleed.   It left a rather noticeable scar on his neck.

I was only a teenager when he stumbled into our home that morning, all bleeding and bruised.   I was not yet dressed and still wearing pajamas, but I went and grabbed my Browning Auto-5 shotgun and quickly loaded 3 high base #6 shotshells into it.   My Mom got on the phone and called the police.

I ran down the street in my pajamas with my Browning as fast as I could, but I was way too late, as the robber was already long gone.

I don't know if any of our neighbors saw me, since it was so early that Sunday.   If they did, it must have been quite a sight to see a teenager wearing pajamas running down the block armed with a shotgun.

Perhaps it is good the guy got away, as I was so mad that I am pretty confident that I would have shot him if I had seen him.   The gun had a modified choke in the barrel, and would have done major damage at closer ranges.

That was one of only two times in my life when I have put myself in a position to shoot someone.   The guy in the second incident also fortunately managed to get away from my Dad and I, after he severely beat my little petite sister ( she is only 5 ft 1 inch, a full 13 inches shorter than I am ).    We were actually only planning to beat him up to let him know how it felt.  But since he owned handguns, we brought ours along for backup just in case we found him armed.

Interesting story. I've had a firearm pulled on me 5 times and fired at me twice. (I think I have 4 lives left....) You can search this BBS for the story as I've grown tired of repeating it over and over again.
