Well, while taking a gander over at the Onion's AV Club, I came across this little tid bit: Everything you wanted to know about the Gene Simmons sex tape (but were too nauseated to ask) (http://www.avclub.com/content/newswire/everything_you_wanted_to_know)
In case you haven't heard--or, more likely, are actively plugging your ears and singing "Strutter" to block it out--a sex tape starring KISS bassist, Family Jewels-man, and Celebrity Apprentice castoff Gene Simmons was recently splattered all across the web like so much fake blood. In it, the epically tongued, hard-rocking icon born as Chaim Witz gets it on with an Austrian "energy drink spokesmodel" known only by the mysterious moniker "Elsa" who "loves to yodel."
This has to be the B-Movie of Sex tapes. One might accuse Gene of setting this up himself for its promotional value, except for the fact that it has about a 180 degree opposite effect from that he would want to achieve.
The link above is fairly work safe, though it has some dirty words and contains additional links to "sample" footage that could be either sleep or nausea producing. Be warned, if you are overly sensitive to such content, don't follow the links at the site then come back and whine about it. If not... :huh :( :cry or  :lol :lol :rofl
But, you don't really need to see the horror. The review at the AV Club is amusing and the snarky comments over at the AV club are, as usual, a hoot and seem to mirror the general public reaction to this "scandal."

Well it can't be any more nauseating then hearing him play the bass.
-
I'm not a fan of Kiss (they only have two "songs" dont they? Detroit Rock City and I Wanna Rock an Roll All Night? They're the only two I've ever heard), but they've had some great gags with him and the rest of the band on Family Guy over the years.

I like KISS
Actually they have a few songs that are pretty good that you rarely if ever hear.
"She" is damned good by anyones standards Particularly on the first live album.
As is "Black Diamond" And "Let me go Rock and Roll"
"God of Thunder" is also one of my all time favorites
God Of Thunder -Live (http://youtube.com/watch?v=zgkLhfiGIqY&feature=related)
Tell ya what though. Even if you dont like their music, they put on one HELL of a good show
-
Sorry, but I've never cared for this band a lick and never will.
-
Ye they are an either love em or hate em type.
Few are in between about them
but I can relate to what your saying.
I've always felt the same way about Bowie
-
Can't stand him, KISS or David Bowie. This is just one more bit of useless knowledge that has now infected my brain.
-
It should be remembered that Gene Simmons is a living caricature, and is doing it intentionally. He's made a great living from it. And continues to do so.
-
For a second I thought that said "Richard Simmons", and I threw up in my mouth a little.
-
Well I will say for a guy whom claims to have slept with two thousand women plus.. Well the women must have been pretty bored, judging by his performance.
-
In my sleepy tiredness, I thought it said "Richard Simmons"
Now im going to have nightmares :cry

(I nearly choked on the old Juan Valdez when I read this)
Evidently Elsa did. :)
If it gets to the point that I desire to watch this Bozo having sex I will take up knitting.

Couldnt be that bad a Bass player
The Kiss reunion tour led the list of the most successful roadshows of 1996 by grossing $43.6 million. The group's return to makeup helped sell more than 1.2 million concert tickets at 92 shows in 75 cities.
KISS has had 24 Gold albums and 10 Platnum
How much have you all made playing bass?
Or anything else for that matter
-
I played drums and sang lead 75% of the time when I was younger for 14 years. Won 8 Battle of the Bands contests. Made a few bucks, nothing significant. Now after being bored with drumming, I'm already working on the geetar. I really wish I could get my hands on some of my band's DAT's.
But, that being said. I still think Kiss is a VERY overrated band in the "lores of time". Maybe if you lived in Michigan you'd get tired of hearing "Detroit Rock City"? Maybe you forget the 80's streak of their "cookie-cutter, let's get in on this hair band sound, train"?
The ONLY album I could EVER listen too when I was younger was "Hotter than Hell".

Agree with the 80s. Unfortunately its a trend that continues to this day.
Liking or disliking a group is a mater of taste.
Me
Like I said I never liked Bowie
something about his sound that grates on me like chineese water torture.
There are a bunch of other Top bands I too think are VERY over rated.
While I can appreciate a few of their songs. Among the list of performers are
The Rolling Stones
Bob Dylan (Great lyrics. But hat voice! OUCH)
Van Halen
Bon Jovi
Bruce Springstein
To name a few
I view them as ok. But nowhere near that staus they climbed to

I've heard that Brittney Spears sold quite a few tickets in her touring days as well. I guess that makes her a phenomenal vocalist with talent equal or greater than that of Gene Simmons. Ticket sales = talent
Just because albums and tickets sold doesn't mean you have to like them. I never understood why people take it personal when other people don't like musicians they look up to. Music is all about choice and taste. Your "filet mignon" may be my steamy cow ****. It's what makes the business go round and keeps my job interesting.

Oh no?
Gene Simmons Bass solo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6vdZ_b0l_U)
You're honor, the people rest.
For comparison:
John Entwistle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVl39LBZGMw)
.

I saw that.
And yes it sucked
One bass solo
Still doesnt prove your case though.
Ever seen a Dead concert? LMAO (and I love the Dead)
Still he has how many in the audience cheering him for it?
Fortunately for alot of bands in the end it isnt some professional that ultimately decides talent.
Its the fans
Quite honestly
While better then the one Simmons did.
I was equally as bored with Entwistle's solo as well
Couple good sounding riffs with alot of senseless gibberish in between

That's it, you've just lost all credibility in this discussion. He didn't play a single lick that wasn't cool and yet he never lost the groove.
On the other hand, Gene Simmons bass sounds like well timed farts.

In YOUR opinion.
Mine differs
to me it was mostly boring gibberish with a couple of good licks
Just because you can move your fingers really fast doesnt prove greatness
-
Well it's not just my opinion. If you're interested, bop on over to somewhere like talkbass.com and try that sorta talk.
I can't believe I'm arguing with someone who thinks Gene Simmons is a good bass player and John Eintwistle isn't -- it's like the twilight zone. What's next, singing the praises of Danny Partidge's chops?
-
Oh man, things are really starting to heat up!

And you point outot me where I said Simmons was a great player and
Eintwistle wasnt.
I stated my opinion based on the two links provided
At best I said Simmons "couldnt be all that bad"
And at worst I said I was found the Eintwistle solo boring and had alot of gibberish
reguardless of how good we think they are and arent
they each have sounds that suit their style and group they are performing with.
I dounbt Eintwistle would fit in anyt better with KISS then Simmons would fit in with any of John Entwistle's groups
