Title: Reset preferences?
Post by: steelerkraut on February 23, 2008, 02:00:33 AM
My son clicked a wrong button or something. Now I can't take off with the plane anymore? Is there a way of resetting all the options and preferences to factory default?
Thanks.

No. You can uninsall/install. Most people backup there settings folder when they do this, but that would negate what you are trying to do.

If you've done a lot of work on views, gun convergences and stick/keyboard mapping just tell us more about how far you can get with a plane and we can work from there.

If you are flying offline and it will not let you get out of the hanger, on the clipboard select Options>Arena Setup>Fields and click Standard Settup then Save. This should enable planes at all fields.

If you can get on the runway and need auto takeoff, from the clipboard select Options>Prefrences>Flight and Check the Auto Takeoff box.

If the problem is controls, well thats a little more complicated. Are you mouseing it or do you have a Joystick?

If the problem is with the joystick or mouse, from the clipboard select Options>Controls>Map Controlers and click Default Map and OK.
I think this resets all changes made on your end. I'v never used it.

If your Key Mapping is a mess, from clipboard select Options>Controls>Map Keys. From here you will have to do some figuring. I don't see a way to restore defaults.
Hope this helps

Delete the following from the settings folder where you installed Aces High. Make sure you can see file extensions by opening any folder, then Tools>Folder Options>View>UNCHECK "Hide extensions for known filetypes"

Making a backup of the entire folder is recommended.

If you want to reset the keyboard mapping, delete all files ending in .kmp. For joystick resetting, delete all .jsm files.

uninstall/re-install did the trick. Thanks for the info, though. I'll keep in mind to make backups.

Interesting; glad steeler's back up and flying!

Now; would the list of .cfg files mentioned be what one would make backups of, or are there more things one should include in an 'insurance policy'?

The other files in the settings directory contain your head position setups. Some people back up their custom sounds folder, some even their skins folder.
