depends one what program you're using. Most have a line took you just need to find. You should be able to select different types of line, a regular line will get rid of the arrow on the end.

One way to draw a straight line using a freehand tool, click and draw a dot. Let go then move your cursor where you want the line to end, press shift then click.

If all you're doing is drawing a line use Paint.

Spikes, im drawing a straight line to make a skin. Kinda need the layers ;)

And Raptor, the freehand tool in photoshop does that shift+click thing?

Hold ALT key and click shape tool icon (just bellow Text tool), or click on shape tool and select line in toolbar...

In photoshop, you do not draw a line. You take a circle and you edit it straight.

Serenity,

If you are stumped now I figure you have a whole universe of challenges awaiting you as you wander through PS's fairly deep capabilities.

There is some third party outfit that makes Cd driven tutorials for a lot of these programs. For the life of me I can't recall the name but they are not cheap, (as I recall about $100.00 per subject) but they are comprehensive. We used them to reinforce the skills of new graphics people in a non-graphics environment and they will get you up to speed.  

I want to say we got ours from a U.K. company but I may be mistaken.
