Perhaps a bit impractical but  unique.

Not impractical at all.  Not the first time this idea has been played out.

Pretty cool concept.  Lost me first when he pointed the gun at himself.  Lost me again when he said Glock.
Other than that, cool idea.

You know, the more I think about it, I could see Hawkins in the TV show 'Jericho' pulling one of those out of his stash.

Not new at all.

If you watch the anime version of STARSHIP TROOPERS made in the 80's, the infantry used this same type of folding weapon.

In fact, here's the concept art from the movie:

I don't understand the point of it. Wouldn't it be easier to just carry a gun... point... shoot? Instead of the whole James Bond pretend it's a flashlight deal, then whip it into gun-shape? I mean, what's the advantage of having it folded up? And if it's got all those open parts... how much dirt does the thing collect on the inside of the "functioning" parts right before you whip it back into shooting shape?

Unless you are an olympic shooter, shooting a handgun is very difficult.  Doing ANYTHING to stabilize the gun will only increase your accuracy.  This can be accomplished by giving the gun a stock, and possibly another grip up front.

Most guns don't fit well together in a case.  So if you can do anything to combine all three, including a very easy way to store the gun, you've done very well.

Add onto that a way to protect the moving parts of the gun, and you can increase its reliability.

Once you give a gun a stock & handgrip, isn't it no longer a handgun?

Then when the inward pieces are exposed (when it's collapsed), how is that protecting it instead of exposing it?

I guess I shouldn't post in the gun threads as if I know anything about them.

I guess I did like the whole "looks like a purse when it's closed" piece though. Think they'd only come in black?

Nice solution to a non-existing problem... I'll rather keep my Glock and Scorpion flashlight the way they are, thank you very much.

And, Sailor, I don't find it that difficult to shoot a handgun at what it is designed for (= I wouldn't try to perform a vasectomy on a flying sparrow at 200 yds).

If you can't hit anything with a handgun then you won't be able to hit anything with that thing either.. especially on full auto.

Impractical, but a novelty.
