P-51 Mustang IA:
Four 20-mm Hispano wing cannon
Maybe we could have the british version as a gun package in the game?
The first production contract was awarded by the British for 320 NA-73 fighters, named Mustang I by the British. Two aircraft of this lot delivered to the USAAC for evaluation were designated XP-51.[7] About 20 Mustang Is were delivered to the RAF, making made their combat debut on 10 May 1942. With their long range and excellent low-level performance, they were employed effectively for tactical reconnaissance and ground-attack duties over the English Channel, but were thought to be of limited value as fighters due to their poor performance above 15,000 ft.
A second British contract called for 300 more (NA-83) Mustang I fighters. In September 1940, 150 aircraft, designated NA-91 by North American, were ordered under the Lend/Lease program. These were designated by the USAAF as P-51 and initially named Apache, although this was soon dropped and the RAF name, Mustang, adopted instead. The British designated this model as Mustang IA. The Mustang Mk IA was identical to the Mustang Mk I except that the wing-mounted machine guns were removed and replaced with four long-barrelled 20 mm Hispano Mk II cannon.

Judging from it's .50 armament, probably not much.
I just thought of something...
With the weaker Allison, heavier armament, and poorer aerodynamics, the 4x Hipano P51 must have been a dog.

err, just curious, but on the wiki under armament for the p51d for ROCKETS it says 10? why do we only carry 6 of them, sorry if this is a dumb question :) but them extra 4 would help lol :(

I would be willing to wager that Wikipedia is wrong and HTC is right.

hence the question :), never can tell on a WIKI since anyone can edit it.

The Mustang Mk Ia had 125 rpg. I'd guess it would be uber in the mid war arena and still pretty useful in the late war. Performance at low alt was still pretty good and that is where all the MA action is. Despite being a 1942 plane, it would probably get a late war perk rating due to its rarity and firepower. In fact it is probably too unbalancing to ever get introduced.
The P-51D used 10 rockets in Korea IIRC, but not in WW2.

You had to remove the wing pylons to get the extra 2 rockets per side mounted on the wing. Thus, no bombs, or more importantly, fuel tanks, could be carried in the 10 rocket configuration. According to my copy of the P-51 POH dated August, 1945, the Pony D had the ability to carry 10 rockets during the WWII time period. As with 1000 lb bombs, its hard to find any reference to them being armed with them for operational sorties during WWII.

You won't see many photos of 51s carrying rockets in WW2. The RAF did a bit in the MTO but it was a pair under each wing on rocket rails like the Tiffie had.
I don't know that I've seen a USAAF Mustang in the ETO with rockets on. You will see them loaded on Iwo Mustangs as well as 1000 pound bombs. Not together however. For the Iwo birds the DTs were much more neccessary.
This is about as heavily a loaded WW2 Mustang as I've seen. Taking off from Iwo with 38 style DTs and 6 rockets.

As for the 4 cannon Mustang. Anytime it gets asked for, my first thought is that it has much less to do with having an early Mustang as it does with adding another plane with 4 20mms.
Just fly the Hurricane IIc.
If we got an RAF version the Mustang with 4 50s and 4 30 cals would make more sense.
For the USAAF the 4 50 version or the A36 would in my mind come first.

Which reminds me, we need the option to load rockets on the Hurri.

You have any pictures of Iwo Mustangs hanging the crowd pleasers? Where in the world could they go carrying those things on internal fuel alone?

Don't see it being uber in that arena at all, no more than the P-51B is and that plane doesn't dominate the arena at all.
ack-ack
