28 feet off the ground, how could they be so precise? Did someone stand there with a tape measure?

Main gear, I think.

Pathetic he was fired. I guarantee you he'll be behind the yoke soon.

I saw the old footage of that. That is one of the balliest stunts I have ever seen. Truly amazing.

He'll be hired by Boeing for sure.

Crappy audio, but the management discussion with Tex after the famous roll is one for the historic archives..:lol

If you have the least bit of interest in aviation, I highly recommend Johnston's "Jet-age Test pilot".

It was an experimental prototype.
Honda uses the concept on it's new jet:

IIRC there are multiple receivers and transmitters in the bottom of fuselage.

I've seen that. Pretty incredible. I think the key words here is "Airshow" and "permission".

Having been in the Evora Airshow, I can tell you that the coordinators were not big on putting limits and... coordinating. No "knock it offs" that I know.
That particular Airshow has been cancelled. No idea if this had something to do with it or not.

Terrible -- airliners are not supposed to fly at altitudes less than their wing span on one side. Or is it the length of their vertical tail when inverted? Something like that.
