The bullet stream from a formation of 3 bombers converges at some point, and then fans back out on the back side of that point.
Can someone tell me approximately what distance that is?
-
500 yards.
-
Maybe I should post this in the wish list, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to adjust bomber gun convergence? 500yds and I'm already waxxed!

That is when the bullets cross...I fire when they fire and always kill them...
Maybe because I'm a better gunner than they are a better aimer?

I must confess that I'd like to see it stretched out a bit more as well.
By the time a fighter has closed to within 500 yards of me, the battle is already well on it's way to a nasty conclusion for one of us.

i like where it converges, when a plane is making fast sweeping attacks from the sides it acts like a shotgun and you have a better chance of landing a stream of bullets.
-
While strafing in a 25 I see no converg at all. not a bomber guy but thats what I see when the bullets hit the ground... no converg.
-
There is none, A8TOOL. You must have misread the original post.

Nice example Rolex. (mind if I use it?)
Even though convergence is set at 500, I still score kills at 800 -1000. Your right Bosch, you let em close to 500.....your toast.
I use two different technics. My buffs guns are set up on two different buttons. Primary gun controls lead buff. Secondary weapon (button) controls drones. At 1000 I'll begin squeezing off very small burst with primary.......in effort to guide my tracers to the con. With practise you'll either kill em, or give PW with canopy shot, with a single gun.
Second: Using all guns. Quite effective at 800. 1) do not aim directly at con. At 800 your bullits will drop below aircraft. Aim slightly above and adjust as needed. 2) With convergence set at 500 you must adjust for this as well. From 1000 to 800 you aim just off (left or right doesn't matter), and above, the NME's wingtip.............using very short bursts sweep across to the other wingtip. At 800, slightly above & wingtip to wingtip.
One other trick of the trade: a lot of times when you start landing hits on a con at your six, the con will dive down to get out of the line of fire and to regain some speed. Be familiar with you gunnery position buttons. When I'm trying to beat the beast off my six my fingers are on 2 position buttons, the six gun, and the belly gun. When they dive down they're exposing one vital target.......The Canopy, and generally they're very close by then. Drop down to belly gun and bring all guns to bare.
One final note: Generally it's the pilot looking for easy score, or a NOOB, that will attack you in the methods listed above. A seasoned. and experienced pilot would not attack from the six. Instead he/she will attck from the high or low, 2, 4, 7, and 10 O'Clock positions. The only defense is to become completely comfortable in ALL gunnery postions.
Hopefully this helps ya out.
