Gentlemen and Ladies,
Here is the question for which the prize is additional knowledge. :) You will have four multiple choice options to choose from. Now, take a guess we're not interested in how well you can do research.:furious Here is you're question, Good luck contestants...:aok
What were the combination(s) of aircraft that were associated with the first USAAF kills of German aircraft in World War II, was it?
1) Spitfire IX > Bf109F
2) P-47 > He111
3) P-38 & P-40 > FW200
4) None of the above.
Have Fun...
Cheers:aok

I believe it was the P-38 and the P 40, against the FW200 somewhere in the North Atlantic. P-38 damaged it and the P40 finished it off...

Off Iceland
-
Yep Iceland sounds right, I kept thinking Greenland but that didnt sound right. I think the P-38 pilot ran out of ammo and the P-40 stole the kill...
-
It's #4, and it was the P-38 that shot it down after the P-40 got some hits on it in an earlier engagement.

2d Lt. Elza Shahan, flying a P-38F, recorded the first American victory in the European theater of operations when he and a P-40 pilot downed a Focke-Wulf FW-200 near Iceland on August 14, 1942.
2d Lt Joseph D Shaffer (33d Ftr Sq) and 2d Lt Elza E Shahan (27th Ftr Sq)

So by the looks of it I'm guessing the P38 pilot got the first USAAF victory in Europe and the P40 pilot got the first assist victory. :D
I could see it now.
Shaffer: Omg finally some action!! yes, yes they don't see me. [Begins his attack dive] S**t! they spotted me!!
Condor: Enemy plane spotted!!! FIRE!! [fires at Shaffer]
Shaffer: OMG there shooting at me [Returns fire] haha took out his engine!! YES!
Condor: [plane taking hits] NIEN!!
Shaffer: [on condor's six] YES!!!
Condor: NIEN!
Shahan: Omg that dumb noob just keeps spraying and praying. [Dives in guns blazing]
Shaffer: YES!
Condor: NIEN!!!
Shahan: YES VICTORY IS MINE!! [shoots down Condor]
Condor: NIIIEEN!!!
