VOX Screech

I just bought a new Soundblaster soundcard.  It works great with everything, but AH II.  All the in game sounds work, but when people are speaking over VOX about a third of them simply screech.  I have tried .resetv 1,2, and 3.  What can I do to get my sound card working with AH II?

Did you remopve the drivers for the old sound device and disable it?

I disabled it in the BIOS.  The new sound card had issues installing, so I had to remove and re-install its drivers a few times, but I am not sure if I unistalled the on-board sound cards drivers.  I will check.
