I get nauseous when the Wife fixes it for herself.

Broccoli and E-coli share too many of the same letters and traits for me to consider it food.

Skuzzy, I noticed you "capped" the word 'wife' in your first sentence.

Freudian slip induced by broccoli?

As with most of the vegitables I like.
Lightly cooked to not quite raw.

Cooked till soft has the texture of and reminds me too much of Spinach.

Which I hate. The mere smell of spinach cooking is enough to make me gag

Broccoli are ok... They won't kick my saliva glands into overdrive but I eat them.

Brussels sprout, OTOH are an ABOMINATION and should be covered by the Geneva Convention.

Most people LOVE broccoli in Chinese food.  It's almost like...."there's BROCCOLI in there??"

Most people dont like Brussel Sprouts because they are usually served steamed (YUCK).  Serve them in a shallow bowl with Basil/Garlic/Lemon Butter Sauce...or better yet a garlic & shallots white sauce with freshly ground white pepper.

While serving veggies raw is the healthiest--most folks just steam them...and just steamed is boring and tasteless, and does no one any health benifits if no one eats them.

Sometimes an tasty homeade sauce can be just the right trick!

I beg to differ...

As stated earlier in the thread, a quote from Seinfeld's Newman:

"VILE WEED!"

if broccoli even touches other food it rubs off that horrible bitter taste. it taints everything it touches.

There is not enough sauce on the planet to make broccoli, brussel balls, or any veggie with more than 7 letters in its name, taste good.

Strike that. 'Good' is reaching,...how about 'edible' instead.  Yuck!

Chinese/Japanese/Taiwanese or any Asian  food triggers my gag reflex.

ROX is right the only way to make Brocoli and bruxelle abomination comestible is to make them"sauté" with butter, garlic and some Parsley

Thank GAWD the Japanese eat fish raw, the thought of eating raw chicken makes me wanna puke.

When I eat broccoli and brussel sprouts I always imagine that I'm a ferocious dinosaur devoring trees and bushes...I also make my mashed taters with gravey into a volcano... but that's just me.

The wife makes me eat alone, away from the children.

I am not fat and my doctor tells me I will probably outlive him.  He is 20 years younger than me.  My bad cholesterol is below what is considered normal.   My blood pressure is always on the low side.

I weigh what I did when I graduated high school.

I blame all the veggie eaters for the stress they cause others when they complain about not eating veggies for my higher insurance rates. :)

Ugggh my son loves brocolli, definitely got that off the wife.

I remember reading somewhere that if you have too many of a specific type of taste bud (something to do with bitterness) you'll hate brocolli, brussel sprouts, coffee, even beer. I don't like all of those, well  except beer which I can drink but I don't enjoy the flavour.

I have to doctor coffee in order to consume it.  Most beers do not taste good to me.  However, there is a German beer served in the Munich beer gardens that I love, especially when served up with winekraut and brats.

I do like Shiner Bok as well.  It has a nice flavor.  Good with BBQ.

You have to 'doctor' coffee?

Are you getting the scotch we keep sending to HiTech?
Title: broccoli
Post by: Skuzzy on February 28, 2008, 04:13:15 PM
Hehe.  Not a scotch drinker myself.  Not much for hard liquor of any kind actually.  The occasional shot of Tequila is about all I can stand and only once a year (New Year's Eve).

Roy if you get the chance roll on down to Shiner and visit the brewery.  My wife and I were there about 10 years ago and took a tour of the brewery.  When we got to the "bar" they rolled out and tapped a brand new keg of Bock for my wife and I, and we were the only ones there.  Needless to say fresh Bock from the keg is like...well...chicken fried steak in a glass.
