I'm all for the G.55, but I *WISH* folks would stop claiming it was a torpedo bomber. IT WAS A FIGHTER!!

Nothing else.

ONE torpedo was tested, on ONE prototype. The same can be said of Fw190s, and me109s, and many other planes.

Back on topic: There were two models of the G.55. The First had 1 20mm hub gun and 4x 12.7mm Breda MGs (all in the cowling, 2 up 2 low). The second (more numerous, more common) production model had the lower MGs removed (too difficult to service, apparently) and the wing guns installed.

It would be interesting to pick either weapons option, if it's ever included in AH. The first setup is about the same armament as a P-38, only with more ammo!

I have been asking for this plane since the original AH, and I hope one day to find it in an update.

More Italian Planes Please!

ahh never mind its just the angle of the drawing i can see the cannon ports in the wing, and the profile if it would be at the same angle as mine post would look about the same.

That sounds like it would be a great addition.  It would be nice to have more "not-so-mainstream" rides.

while capable of carrying them, it doesn't seem they ever really used them. Sadly, same goes for drop tanks. They could, and some did on recon missions, but overall they didn't use them in large numbers. It seems more DTs than bombs were used, and we still don't have the DTs.

The P.39 is a good plane, ill give it that.  But it is only good on the deck.  Get it up high and its performance drops.  Use Drag and Bag wingman tactics, making co-ordinated BnZ attacks and they will die quite nicely.  Now if you get suckered into staying low and fighting these planes in their prefered envelope, well then good luck.

Dude, the G.55 could own the 38 at 20K, but i think the atvantages would even off on the deck....

Um, I never said the G.55 could not kill the P.38 at alt, I was saying that a G.55 WOULD defeat a P.39 that flew up to 20K+.
I was also saying that once on the deck that same P.39 would be in the position to kill easily the fool hearted G.55 that did not take his BnZ shot then reset up high but stayed low on the deck in a prolonged fight.

Ahem.....the Brewster was an American fighter that was supplied to the British Commonwealth and Finland. Apparently only 44 were supplied to Finland. The obsolete Brewster did have it's best success w/ Finnish pilots however.
