Smokey, you haven't had any issues with it biting or behavior problems?

Our Pug Bazil. I never had a small dog before, my wife nagged me about a Pug last year for months. Finally over the summer I got her one. I wasn't sure about small dogs, but he has grown on me. I could see us getting another one as a playmate for him.

I trained mine to go in a cat litterbox theyre clean animals other than the messes they make chewin stuffed animals up, and hideing anything shiney they get their hands on they are thiefs if it shines or lights up they will steal it. You cant buy one unless you know someone that raises them. Check with the local exterminator sometimes they come across a nest of them just dont steal one from its momma. However before you think about getting one check the local laws where you live alot of places make it illegal to posses transport or own any wild animals. Bandit has been neutered, up to date on all shots and vaccines and it aint cheap to own one he is 5 years old and i have no less than $1000.00 invested in his care and upkeep
Title: Mans best friend?
Post by: SFCHONDO on February 28, 2008, 05:57:39 PM
$1000 for 5 years is pretty cheap. I spend over $600 a year in grooming fees alone for my dog. That dam hair is a pain to up keep. But he's worth the expence to me.

BBBB  Sometimes when i want him to do somethin like go to bed and he wants to watch david letterman we have our differences but when he bites he never really bites he just grabs my hand in his mouth an holds it tries to play tough but never hurts me ever, besides he been neutered so all that aggression has been takein right out of him.KInd of like me since my girlfriend has me wipped my aggression has deminished significantly:rofl :rofl

We ( 5point, me and my mom)  just had to put my 13 year old Dauschund down yesterday. One of the hardest things Ive had to do in a long time. She was blind and deaf and was just a pain for my mom. It was so sad, she just laid there as they put the medicine in her and looked at me. A min later her heart stopped as the vet said and I just cried like a little newborn. Anyways b4 I start crying again, cute dogs everyone.

I have a couple of Staffordshire Bull Terriers. I've bred and raised these dog for almost 30 years now.35 lbs sorta like a Jack Russell on steroids.

Unfortunately they have made it illegal to breed or sell pitbull type dogs where I live.So I'm afraid these will be the last 2 I'll ever have!!!

They're the friendliest dogs, with people, but care must be taken around other dogs. They rarely start fights but always finish them.

Our Pug doesn't eat rocks..he eats everything else though lol. Bazil is pretty silent. I hardly ever hear him. He only barks when someone knocks on the door, he doesn't snort unless he is playing and running and he only snores when he sleeps on his back.

We are going to take him in May to have his nostrils enlarged. It will help him breath better. Small nostrils are a problem with the breed and can lead to health issues as he gets older.

Smokey, 1,000 bucks ain't bad. I know saying that doesn't make your wallet feel any better, but if I added up everything this dog cost me from purchase to vet visits, I am easily in about 2,500 or so and he isn't even a year old yet.

We bought him from what we thought were reputable breeders. We paid 1,000$ for him, which is about 300 less than you get at the pet shop. He did have all his shots and seemed OK when we took him home. He crawled under the table and slept.

It was only later that night we discovered the worms. We took him to the vet the next morning and as it turned out he was pretty bad off. He had worms and parasites really bad, he had infections in both ears. He was under nourished and was really in the red. The vet came back and told us, he might even die. We got all the meds, heart worm meds plus more shots to kill the worms and parasites.

It took a few days of work with him, but you could see a huge turn around. He was up playing around, running and just being a puppy. It took us nearly a month of weekly vet visits to clear up his ear infections and to check his stool for any signs of parasites and worms coming back..

Looking back, I don't mind the money spent. The way I see it we saved his life. The sad part is, these breeders have more dogs like him. I wonder how many die in their care? Bazil wouldn't have lived more than a few more days had we not bought him. I feel like it was money well spent.

Shiloh is not amused by your comment.  Let your ankles beware.

Molly is extremely cute. :aok  And yes it is typical of the breed.

Shiloh is our third Basset.  We lost Lexington at 7 years to spinal cancer and Tyler at 12.5 years to cancer of some sort.  They were 1 year apart in age and had the same mother.  That was alot of fur and slobber! :rofl  We miss them very much.

My brat, Molly. Have to watch her outside in the snow. She loves it and would probably stay out there until frozen solid. My daughter and her play like 2 little kids tearing up the house. For anyone considering a dog, Beagles are a great choice.

I had a cat like that for a while...  plastic bags, pair of jeans you name it..  if it was new, and hollow.. the cat would get in it..  if it wasnt hollow, he had to sit on top of it..

then he pissed IN my new toaster and now he lives with grandma.

My Dog Samson.

He was killed by an Ahole who thought he was dangerous.

He Poisoned him w tainted food thrown into my yard after an outdoor wedding we went to and then home to my block party. Poisoned about 5-6 am right around the time i went to sleep. I missed all the symptoms that would have alerted me. Poison was in him to long by then. Can't tell you how hard it's been not to have him around. hurts even to write it.

Dog went everywhere with me. Four different bars and every family occasion.

Taken after one of the best days we had together. he is tired as hell after playing with the kids all day and then he got to chase some deer. he was gone for about an hour before he came back. I was so worried but he was a smart dog that had a great sense of smell, a memory that would blow you away and always knew who the bad guys were. He never missed one, If he gave you a slight growl or kept a close eye on you or kept himself in between me and that person for some reason ..........I alway knew not to do business with that person and the dog was alway right.........I trusted him with my life

Great looking Golden Retriever Shawk!

We're definitely a dog family.  We lost our beloved Flat Coated Retriever to melonoma in July.  Part of the reason I haven't been flying much at all lately is because of this guy that we picked up a month ago :).

This is "Tex" our 15 week old Sheltie.

We have been contemplating getting him involved with Agility.  My wife already taught him how to fetch frisbees and little tennis balls so we're looking forward to him being a frisbee dog as well!

LOL..Shelties can be such spastic doggies.had a friend whos Shelty used to run circles for hours on his fence corner. It would start at the bottom on the fence and jump, circle counterclockwisehit the top of the fence, rinse and repeat.Funny as hell to watch. They can get wound pretty tight.Good dogs tho.Thats a cute one.:aok
