Yes this does have to do with my squad going so well lately. But wouldn't it be cool to have the top ranked squads on the main page with the top pilots? Last I checked the VMF-124 was ranked 72 in fighter, 1 in bombers, 8 in Attack, and 2 in GV's. Out of over 500 squads not to shabby. Also I am very proud of my squad and would like them to get the "Name in lights" feeling.
I do understand that smaller squads would have an advantage. We have 9 members right now. But it also might have a nice impact in CO's taking a larger part in training of thier squads. It could also be used as a tool to let people know what squads they may want to join.
I can hear it now " the score mongrels (nice word to use)" would only be at the top. My reply...They do it for the pilot, why not the whole squad of score mogrels! But as far as strats go they are there for everyone and if you don't pride yourself with a good rank why would you care?

The name in lights thing is empty as long as it does not account for skill. You know how you've gotten the low rank; how could empty accolades on a website mean anything?

What are you implying Hubs? I have played along side stroker, and haven't seen any issues with it.

Yeah some parts of the scoring system are so easy to get good rank. But you do need some skill to keep your kills per sortie, kills per death, and the sort to have a good rank. It's easy to get in the top 50 overall but not so easy to get in the top 15 overall. I am ranked 9 overall now and if you look at my stats you'll see I am (for the most part) a real player in the game..the same for my squad. We don't try that hard for rank so we'll rarely if ever get 1st or 2nd on a single catagory. Although I got 2nd in gv's last tour :D. My point is it's more important for the team effort and thats what it is about. So recognizing the squad as a whole is a good thing.

The front page scores are already the bastion of the self-vulchers and stats-padders.....
It's bad enough to encourage it on an individual level, but to encourage it in entire groups?!?! On a squadron level?!?

Gotta agree here. Name in lights also, more then anything else, encourgaes timidness. It's already hard enough to find a good 1v1 without people running at the slightest hint things might not be going thier way, but whatever right, it's thier $.

so your saying because someone has the best overall fighter rank they pad the stats? VansCrew/SHawk may be one of the better sticks in game and get 1st or 2nd in fighter rank over all pretty regularly; but they dont pad the stats do they? no they dont. and do they self-vulch? dont think so. most of their kills are A-A in fighter and attack. so saying that some of the better ranking pilots in the game are score-potatos, or stat padders is like saying a beginner is a cheater for killing you. its just luck and determination to get 1st or second in a category. so would the squad thing on main page. I agree with this idea, and as someone said; it would help people look for a good squad to join.

I think this is an excellent idea. I think like Stroker stated that this would help to promote team work and training within squads. Also this could help in making the idea of joining a squad more appealing to those not in one, let alone which ones to join up with. I have had a great deal of fun flying with the Blackhawks and will continue to do so. We have a great bunch of guys that work together well. We have also been learning how to work together more effectively and it would be nice to see the effort that we put into it to show up on the home page like the individual stats do. I too enjoy a great 1v1 or 2v2 even a good 1v2 (with me on the low end of things of course), but I think that if you think having the top scorers on the home page effect that I woul say that the individual top scorer listing would probably have a bigger effect than the squad ones would. I only say this because (at least with our squad) we fly together and try to work as a fairly tight team when there is more than one of us on anyway.
Thanks Stroker and Choker for inviting me into join. Joining the Blackhawks has been one of the most fun things I have done in AH.

ROLLINGTHUNDER had #1 in base captures and #2 in bomber damage a few months back im proud to say. I'm not too sure how we are doing now though.

uberslet, you almost had me reading all that til you said shawk was the best stick in the game, and after that I couldn't keep reading because the tears, and my butt was sore from falling off my chair laughing.

their name in lights...it only matters if you let it.

I just do not see the need to ego stroke score potatos and their squads. It is bad enough that the top scorers every tour are the same handful of people. Score-potators? You tell me...
