Title: Looking for Advice
Post by: Hoarach on February 29, 2008, 06:56:09 PM
Does anyone know where I could buy a set of passive speakers, if that is what they are called.  Looking for speakers that dont require battery or AC power but just plug into a mp3 player.

Just looking for speakers that I can plug into my mp3 player and put behind my bed to fall asleep to.  I had a speaker pillow type thing but the speaker pillow cord split and the store that I got them from doesnt sell them anymore.

Not quite as both require batteries.

Thanks for the help though.

I doubt an MP3 player has enough power to drive non-amplified (ie battery free) speakers.

Karaya helped me find a set today.

Sony makes a bunch of them.

Wow, didn't realize the little mp3 could support non-powered speakers.

The speakers need to be ultra sensitive to be driven with earphone voltages. You're not going to get a loud sound out of them, especially bass, but even regular battery powered computer speakers produce audible sound when played without the battery/amplifier.
