Title: Can't Open AH or MS Flight

I've been ingame for some time, but last night I couldn't get either AH or MS Flight Sim to open.  Got the infamous.."it has encountered a problem and needs to close" on both applications.  This happened right when I clicked on the icon to start the application.

I downloaded a new AH program thinking that the version I had on my hardrive had become corrupt, but the new one doesn't open either.

I have plenty of space on the hard drive, plenty of RAM, so I'm thinking it's another hardware issue?  I'm in Florida, and got hit with the power outages a few days ago.  Could a power surge have harmed my video card or something else that causes the two sim programs to not load?

All the other applications on my computer work fine.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

have you updated your drivers of late?

i had this problem with  my ati card wouldnt open any games but everything else was ok!!!

This happened over night too

Check sound card ah wont load without it

Thanks for the tips!  Let's assume I don't know how to update my drivers or check the condition of my sound card.  How would you do it?
