Got this from a Dutch news portal:

Contains a clip of an Airbus trying to land in a crosswind. Never knew you could actually SKID a big airliner like that.

that's not a slod, it's a crab. what he's doing is pointing his nose into the wind deliibretly, and using the engines' thrust to offset the wind, so he cam maintain his descent to the runway. is you saw him almost get blown off the runway when he straightened the nose, that was because he  should've dipped the upwind wing as/when he brought the nose straight, and that would've kept his plane straight till touchdown. croswind landings are hard, and tricky......but also very much fun!!

do a google search..there's lots of videos of airliners doing these.......

I was on a Varig 737 inbound to Sao Paulo a few years ago that had to go around 5 times in a thunder/rain storm with an under 300 ft ceiling. Apparently both alternates were badly socked in so the feeling was that conditions would get worse before we got there and then pilot would be on minimum or beyond...this was at the domestic airport (where plane skidded off runway into gas station) so after the 2nd aborted landing they sent us to GIG (the international airport) and it was literally ground level heavy fog. After two more aborted landings they finally got us down. Absolutely a great flight crew who got a "standing O" at the end. As I walked on past the cockpit the 4 striper was a gal, both of them were still buckled in, drenched and just shaking with post adrenialion rush...vis was so bad I couldnt even see the wingtip on the ground...
