Title: E8400 rise in price
Post by: Getback on March 03, 2008, 12:10:16 AM
Anyone noticed the rise in price of the E8400? I bought mine from Mwave.com when it first arrived for $211. Now it's around $240 on NewEgg. Must be a demand. Of course the AMD prices are dropping like rocks. I looked at NewEgg when I was getting ready to purchase the E8400 and they were sold out. That tells a story.

Demand, for sure.

When I had an AGP motherboard, I really wanted the 7600GT AGP. Only, it was constantly out of stock, and the price was significantly higher than the PCIe version, at the time.

Definitely supply/demand.

If you can afford it, get the:

EN8800GTX/HTDP/768M GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

I have one, and it is just absolutely giving blazing frame rates.

OEM e8400 is now available a NewEgg for $199.99.  You don't get the heat sink and fan but You can fix that for another $60 which brings it to the NewEgg price of the retail package which is not in stock.  I already plan to use a Zalman 9700 so this is a great deal for me.   Mine's on the way.  :)

Looks like the Intel ship came in. I'm seeing E8400's all over the place again at the lower price. Mwave has them for $205. Looks like now might be the moment. 8800GT 512 vid cards about the same.

Perhaps my patience was rewarded.

Last I looked it was sold out again.  :lol

I think there is a full herd of system builders and ebay sellers buying them. They go fast!

Retail version still in stock at Newegg at $209. Limit 1 per customer.

I can attest that the E8400 is a monster. If you can get your hands on one...do it!

I saw the E8500 on Newegg for the first time. Was so tempted to get one but-t-t-t-t-t, having built 3 machines in 6 months I'm on a budgetary diet. :rock

I went to Newegg to check out the price and read the reviews of it. One of those guys said in his review that the E8400 blows the E6850 (what I have) out of the water   :huh :cry

Let my wife ask me what I want for my birthday this year     :pray

And also consider this.
Is it worth an extra almost $100 for another .16GHz.

It might be better. then the 8400. But is it $80 worth of better?
