I did a search for this but it didn't find the answer.
I know there is a spot in the front of a T-34 that, if hit will destroy the tank. There have been many times (especially in the EW) where I've sat nose to nose with another T-34 and we just slug it out for a while.
But sometimes I've come across someone who really knows the T-34. They will fire at me with the machine gun to see where the bullets land, then fire the main gun. One shot, one kill.
thanks

Isn't it the right side of the turret?

I really enjoyed T-34 fights back when the arena split first happened and most people were in early war. Best thing I found was to keep manuvering and firing at a track using both guns in the turret then after he's tracked swing around to the side and pop. :) Was Better GV fun rather than the Late war style of up a sherman, sit and pop things in 1 shot now days.
Never had much luck in head on shots T-34 VS T-34 though.
-
I have found that a hit below the driver near the bottom edge of the hull seems to get the job done. Also the spot on the side, between the last two road wheels.

Lower glacis under the driver's hatch.

and if you can't hit that then shoot for the the spot near the lower edge of the hull under the driver.

I believe there's a bug where the lower and upper angles meet in the armor on the front hull. Supposedly it's supposed to be super thick in real life, but is only modeled as 2 thin sheets of metal joining, thus a major weak spot.
Something along those lines. Hit right where the upper and lower angles meet was the suggestion when this was brought up (long ago) -- but that's a tricky spot to hit.

kinda like not being able to kill a tiger tank bug due to incorrect modeling?

Should be able to kill a Tiger from the sides or rear with the HVAP rounds in the T-34.

Rear shots will do it and I think hitting by the back side of the tracks will as well.
-
You can also hit it inbetween the turret and the hull to kill it.

Huh, I can kill them with (1) 75mm HE shell.

The drivers door is an integral part of the frontal armor, but is limited in thickness due to its being a hatch, ive found that lobbed rounds (say from 2400 or more) hitting this area are likly to destroy the tank outright. close up works to, though its rather fickle at medium ranges.
I do know that since that frappin sherman came out, that theres nowhere to hide when one is around, and t34's just aint got the guns to deal with one:cry

Now (sadly) there will be a severe decrease in t34 drivers because they will all be shot with 1 shot.

To my experience only a small percentage of the victims, err, players out there does read the board ;)

The T34 should be able to kill a tiger from the rear. There are even storys about T34 crews running thier tanks into tigers to take them out .

I had one of the uber guys kill my T-34 with his hull gun in a flack that had its main gun knocked out. He killed me from 30 feet with the bb's while I was hammering away at him with my main gun....
He of course wouldn't tell me how he did it, and wouldn't even respond on 200. Funny how quiet he got all the sudden.
Anyone else know how this could be done? Some would think that I would want this information to exploit the bug myself.... But, actually I just want to know that its a bug and not a Ha ... uh... something else.
That would really be a total buzz kill.
I may just have to resign myself to the fact that information is power and that power corrupts.

I wouldn't have responded on 200 either because I don't tune to it..... so does that mean I uh.. oh never mind. :noid

Krusty had the answer: where the glacis and the bottom come together on the real T34 is an enormously thick casting that should be nearly invulnerable. In AH that casting is modeled as the same thickness as the glacis armor, but at 90 degrees, so it is very weak. Hit that point and you will kill a T34 with one shot 100% of the time.
A T34 can kill a Tiger only from a range of about 400 and less and only if you hit either the side of the turret at 90 degrees (will take out turret only) or the side of the hull (where the cross is) again at 90 degrees (one shot will destroy the Tiger). If the Tiger is pointing at you it is entirely hopeless unless (as one unfortunate Tiger driver did to me recently) he turns his turret the wrong way and presents the side to you. If you are beyond 400 yds, never fire at a Tiger- it will just annoy him.
Edit: This is with HVAP rounds of course. AP will do nothing.

it would have to be extremely close range.
-
Yes, less than 500 meters from the side, and 1000 from the rear, but it used to be almost literally impossible.
-
It wasn't impossible: all you had to do was drive to within about 50 yds of the Tiger and fire 9 AP shells into the side of the hull.
Of course, for your T34 to survive that would require quite possibly the worst SA on the Tigers part ever.

i dunno what u guys problem is but my tigers die after 2 or 3 hits all the time... :noid
