As soon as this new plane comes out, I will need some serious TA time to learn to dogfight with it, against it, and in it.
From what I've heard about it, it is really good and bad. I know i just have to understand it really well to be good in it.
Anyone want to help?

When the new update comes out, no one else will have any experience with the P-39s either, so everyone will be in the same boat.
Don't worry, however, some of us will thoroughly test the two Airacobras and will post the results to the BBS.
My regards,
Widewing

I'm gonna fly it like I fly everything: To it's limits, then beyond! ;)

Just an Historical (family) note:
My Father loved P-39s! He was, however, an Infantryman in New Guinea in 1942, so go figure...

Probly 10-20 times before I figure it out ;)

Go -------------------------> really fast. If something gets in your way either shoot it or turn. Then go
<----------------------------really fast, put your landing gear down and attempt to land or as in my case crash

Well i will do what I've been doing with all American planes I start flying. Picking, then dogfights with less maneuverable planes, then the average maneuverable planes, then the well to extremely well maneuverable planes.
1. Picking
2. Dogfights with the P-51, P-47, F4U (hopefully in hands of a clumsy pilot :uhoh :pray)
3. F4U (definately), Spit-9s, FM2s.....along those lines
4. Hurris, A6ms, All the other spits.....
If it does well in steps 1 through 3 but not 4 then you know what i will be after. If it works suprisingly well with step 4, then that will be my new plane for everything. Shoot, if nothing works, i will fly it for fun. <See you guys on the ground>

Brilliant! :lol
Could this be SAPP philosophy, or just common sense? :rofl

My thoughts as the p39's are not boosted so high alt is out of the question. For the first week you'll see them all the time then after a month or so they will as common as the B5N in late war. IMHO the D will be a better low alt turn fighter.
-
I don't think the high alt performance (or lack there of) will have much of an effect on the P-39s use, since most of the combat in AH takes place so low most of the time.
That said, I also don't think it will be a highly used plane after the first month or so.
Regardless, I think I'll stick with my F4U-1A. :aok

Not our FM2.

I think it will be very popular for a long time. If high-alt performance was the be-all-and-end-all no-one would fly the La7.... Yet we see that very often.
I doubt it will reach the popularity that the La7 enjoys, particularly now that it has been updated too, but it will definitely be a popular aircraft in the MA given that it is absolutely perfect for MA style fighting.

You're guessing, or saying so after actualy flying it?
-
I like it almost as much as a jug for buff hunting, it's great :rock
-
i tried it in MA, and was to damn laggy, tried to go rtb and comp froze from lag.....was fine till i hoped in the 39

Man I love the P-39. First sortie, i got 1 kill but had to land because I needed to re-download the High Res pack. After I relogged, I landed 3 more on my 2nd sortie. Most I've landed so far in it was 5. I'm still suprised. :O
