Title: Laptops
Post by: Noodles123 on March 08, 2008, 09:29:39 PM
Hi all,
Is Aces High good on a laptop?
I am interested in using aces hi, but a game I had previously purchased a CD had very slow graphics.  Is this game good on a laptop?

Yes. Heck, you can play this game on dialup.

Depends on the guts in the laptop.

I have a laptop and it runs AH great...all graphic sliders all the way up, high res running, and Im using Vista on it.

I also use a laptop for AH and it does work.  Just make sure you have a good graphics card, and plenty of memory.  Also, if you run wireless - you might have to reset your router every now and then or you'll have packet loss.

Good to know, I'm about to buy one with an nVidia8600 onboard.  4gb RAM, Intel Core Duo, etc

What kind of frame rates do you get, Nilsen?

Dont remeber 100% but i belive i was pretty steady at 60 even on heavy loads at the native resolution (1440x900)

The one you get should really be awesome.  :aok

Thanks...good to know!

My old laptop fried, thankfully all my programming work is saved on a network storage unit.  Poor R2's AI program almost went boom!

Glad you saved R2  :D

What brand is it? (the laptop)

Spartan

Local retailer resells them.  Spartan laptops are pretty popular with some of the other hospital IT groups.

I could save a few bucks buying online...but I like to support the local guy.  And I like knowing if I have issues, I drop it off to him, not nag on the phone for an RMA, etc etc

I build stuff myself so I'm able to drop it off on my lap if something breaks..  :D

It's a real pain to deal with serviceproviders. For this POS macbook pro I have to travel all the way to Helsinki to get instant service. And it looks like I have to now, it's dead slow despite it's only 3 months old. Or maybe it's Leopard who knows?
