Title: How does it work when someone within the game is banned?
Post by: Wolfala on March 09, 2008, 03:22:26 AM
Example: 12 people report a guy with his text buffer for 1 reason or another. Is the credit card used flagged, or the billing address?

It involves a boat, a bucket, a sack of cement ... and the perp is never heard from again. Credit card the least of his worries.  :t

I believe Skuzzy himself comes to your house and gives you a spanking if your text/voice chat is reported. Don't want to know what happens if you get banned  :D.

They just charge your credit card. No problemo.

No - they send you the ticket and demands that you attend HTC's HQ's ASAP!

If you're talking about the .report and .vreport, it's just code- no involvement on HTC's side unless someone contacts them. Once enough complaints from enough players are logged, the reported player loses chat/vox instantly. If you're talking about getting IP-banned (ala NathBDP), that requires HTC's direct action, and IINM, has nothing to do with the reporting system.

I believe its the billing address. It the piece of information that is least likely to change.

Most MMO companies flag the credit card on the account, not the billing address or IP.  The reason why the billing address or IP is rarely used is there maybe others in the household that have their own accounts that haven't done anything.
