Title: Charlotte, NC
Post by: Chairboy on March 09, 2008, 12:34:28 PM
I'll be in Charlotte this week, anything interesting to do out there?  I've read the Wikipedia article and browsed around a bit, but don't know what to look for.  Aviation, space, historical...  what's this city got?  I understand that NASCAR is somewhat popular there, what else?

Take a "Now Serving Number #2 Ticket" and stand in the Immigration Application line at the INS facing backwards.

It'll confuse others for hours.

last time I was down there (20 years ago) China Grove was nothing more than a community. more rural than suburban. might be suburban by now.

not sure what JT meant by that, other than that is where China Grove is.

I tried to visit the Billy Graham library today, but they had a big security checkpoint.  I slowed down, a bit unsure.  What if I get inside and they detect my spiritualessness and capture me?  The guard, seeing my hesitation, said "It doesn't cost anything", but I turned to leave.  Another thought struck me.  What if the gate isn't to keep folks out, but is for keeping things in?  "Sir, I don't know what you folks have in there, but if it's dangerous enough you need all this security, I'd rather steer clear."

For dinner, I had something fantastic called "fondue".  There's a restaurant called 'The Melting Pot' (I think it's a chain) and that was awful tasty.  The cheese fondue wasn't anything special, but the Mojo bouillon w/ the different meats was just great.  Holy cow, did I miss a memo or something about this stuff?

I had fondue a few times when I was a kid. Was too much work for me. I wanted to be served. :) I reckon I could give it another shot though.
