You blew it off as "Amerihater" bs when I talked about this over a year ago. Now, The Pentagon will release a report that says the same things I told you. KBR was providing unsafe water to our troops.
http://www.star-telegram.com/466/story/519623.html (http://www.star-telegram.com/466/story/519623.html)
The Defense Department's inspector general's report, which could be released as early as Monday, found water quality problems between March 2004 and February 2006 at three sites run by contractor KBR Inc., and between January 2004 and December 2006 at two military-operated locations.
KBR's water quality "was not maintained in accordance with field water sanitary standards" and the military-run sites "were not performing all required quality control tests."
"Water suppliers exposed U.S. forces to unmonitored and potentially unsafe water," at the military sites by late 2006, the report said.
Tell me again how great KBR is.
-
Hmm, silence from the KBR fanclub. Very interesting...
-
May be that there isn't a KBR fanclub.
Wait... did you mean the Bush/Cheney fanclub?
p.s. I enjoyed checking out the south40 from your www link . may even post sometime :)
p.p.s. I put another post in the iditarod thread answering your question. If you'd like the book (I've got a copy) send a PM.
-
No, Mom. I mean the group that was calling BS when I first reported this. They seemed to think since it was KBR, it HAD to be safe and anyone saying different was an Amerihater. I'll see if I can find the original thread.
p.s. Thanks, Mom!

Hey Rpm :)
Honestly, I read that article and it sounds to me like a pretty minor issue and it has been corrected. When looking at your original link, all kinds of allegations where being levied. And now, this is all that anyone has come up with?
Also, I noticed how the article brought up Cheney three times, even though he has nothing whatsoever to do with this.
unmonitored and potentially unsafe water supplied by the military and a contractor once owned by Vice President Dick Cheney's former company,
Halliburton is the oil services conglomerate that Cheney once led. Congressional Democrats long have complained that KBR has benefited from its former ties to Cheney.
What exactly is the issue?
-
Nuke, have you seen the documentary? It's some pretty blatant stuff the contractors were/are doing. I'm actually surprised that something was done this fast. Hopefully they will investigate the other things, too.
And yeah, I do have it in for Cheney. But if you honestly think he's not pulling strings for KBR, yer froot loops.
What's the issue? The issue is a company is screwing us and getting away with it. They are overcharging, putting our troops in unnessessary danger and covering it up when they are caught red handed. There is no accountability.
-
I'd chalk it up as a victory, RPM. Either that, or nobody's biting because it's not a direct attack on the GOP.

Which one Diablo, mine? I'm running IE6 and it shows up fine.

Are they a subsidiary of Halliburton? :D

Bzzzzt! WRONG!!!
Most of the troops that got sick did not drink the water. It was water used to wash clothes or for toilets. Nonpotable water.

So that's just "most" of the troops that got sick but not "all" of the troops that got sick?
Then that means that the rest of those that wern't the most either got sick from something else and never washed their clothes or used that water for the toilets.
Would that be correct?
-
I'm kinda having a hard time finding the KBR fan club that you talk about that is in the thread you linked... all I find is people pointing out what a screwed up agenda the documentary had and how hysterical it was.
this still seems to be the case.. the documentary was much more hysterical than the real problem..

This is the issue. It has always been an issue in wars, the theives come out like rats. Harry Truman knew it was an issue even back in WWII. It is illegal and those that allow it to happen should be prosecuted! I believe Cheney knew it would happen that way, and yes, he profited from it. His stock options in Haliburton went from $240,000 in 2004 to as high as $12,000,000 in 2005. I believe that Cheney/liarthief, should be put in prison for the rest of his miserable, pathetic existence! I believe that he alone orchestrated the raping of america through two campaigns. One, with the energy meetings and the gangrape of California with power, and the rest of us with post-katrina oil pricing. Two, with IRAQ haliburton/KBR. Very simple, he is a thief, and a traitor to the american taxpayers! He is, in my opinion, as jaded as Nixon ever dreamed of, and simply a menace to the american people. :aok
-
Not to argue the actual issue as I haven't really payed it much attention. It hasn't been in my news sources so, I guess, I hadn't heard. I'll form my opinion after I read the links and watch the video. BUT....
Are you saying that Dick Chenney secretly, through KBR, is poisoning our troops with bad water? What motivation does our VP have to poison troops? I mean, certainly if the VP is in on it, then the President must be too, right? So, the better question is, why would President Bush want to poison troops? I'm certainly confused. Is this something that Obama can "change"? Or do you think that Hillary's universal healthcare will cover government poisoning?
:huh

I could care less about hillary or obama, or for that matter McCain. The '08 presidental race offers noone I like. I just think Cheney is a sleezy, liar, thief! I do believe he would go to bat for KBR even if it was proven that their practices did indeed poison some troops.
-

Thats a fairly serious allegation. Could you please provide proof of this accusation?

Yeah, Cheney "knew it would happen that way", whatever that means.
With all of your evidence again Cheney, I'd say you should personally bring charges against him, since nobody else is. Think about it..I am sure a bunch of lawyers would take the case for you, since you have all that damning evidence. which nobody else seem to have.
I really laughed aloud reading your post. Thank you!

Oh, just another note about California and it's power management. Have you ever heard of a guy named Gray Davis? He was the guy that ran California and negotiated the deals that made the state nearly go bankrupt trying to pay for his power agreements.
He was also only the second governor in US history to be recalled. And, as you may have guessed...he was a liberal democrat. Hardly Cheney's fault.
But in your mind, Cheney single handedly orchestrated all of that, plus more.
Here is a picture of the "man" that caused California to nearly go bankrupt. It's almost like he is screaming "I am a liberal wussy"

so let me see if I got this right....Veep Cheney is killing US soldiers for financial gain?
Or is it more sublime.......
-
Bah...only 64 cases of disease total, hardly enough to get worked up about. I hope we have the proper type of tort reform in place to keep any of those troops from filing frivolous lawsuits :uhoh

Cheney is a liar and a thief. I wouldn't waste one breath on his sorry thieving arse!

Really? You have already wasted more bandwidth on him than anyone else I have seen.
Do you still think he screwed California?

You don't have to try and blow smoke, bro. Cheney told the Texas power folks to rape california and that is exactly what happened.(too bad we'll never get to see the transcripts of the meeting) Somehow several of Cheney's close friends made millions in the process. hmmmm  By the way, I hated davis/fairy too.

I think he gave the greenlight, yes! He knew pansie boy Davis put Cali in a bad position, and he opened the wolves on them.

You are seriously disillusioned. Really, you are.
Cheney "told" the "Texas power folks" to rape California? Are you serious?
Too bad we'll never see the transcipts??? God, you are making me piss my pants. I guess only you have the transcripts.
Gray Davis negotiated the deals that sent his state into the toilet.
-
Gray Davis negotiated the deals that sent his state into the toilet.
Never said he didn't, or can you read?
I said cheney opened up the wolves on california. He had the power to help the situation, instead he told his buds to go make some big bucks. I think of it as a form of thievery, not much unlike post katrina fuel hikes and record profits from oil companies. Enron/Reliant/gouge!

Mac, don't nitpick me for using the word "most". I don't have the medical reports, I have the story I linked you to.
LePaul, I'm not the victim. The troops are. Don't you support the troops?
Yeager, in a nutshell...yes.
Bodhi, let me just waltz into Blair House and rummage thru Cheney's private stuff and I'd be glad to show you.
NUKE, not to get off subject, but have you seen the documentary "The Smartest Guys in the Room"? It has ENRON traders on tape telling power plants to shut down and make up a reason for it. It was stuff like that that caused the power rates to jump.
-
Let me get this straight.
There were 5 sites total. 3 KBRs and 2 military ran sites. All with the same water issues, both KBR and military ran.....but KBR is poisoning our troops? What about the military ran sites?
Sounds like an across the board problem that is being taken care of on both ends to me.
-
You are ridicules.
Nope, just spot on! :aok

Yeah, I thought about Ev Mecham (sp?) when I wrote that. lol.
I remember his days very well. He really had a bad habit of saying the wrong things at the wrong time. The press had a field day with him.
I remember one thing he said that seemed crazy that I later thought could have been true. He said that someone was listening to his conversations by using a lazer on his windwows.
Then I remembered that a friend of mine (later 1970's) told me that his dad worked on stealth and also a satellite that used a lazer to read sound waves off of vibrations in windows from space.
-
From space may be a bit far fetched, but the use of a laser to detect the small pressure variations cause by conversation in a room via the window pane is not unheard of. Kind of like an ultra high tech can with a piece of string on it.
