I heard somewhere that there is a sight desinged for the rockets the 110 has. Anyone know where I can find it? I spent 45 minutes going through threads from the search feature but couldn't find it.
-
Even if there is it won't do you much good. There's something wierd about the way the rocket coad is written. Rockets don't fire in the direction the plane is pointed, they fire in the direction the plane is headed. So unless you fly perfectly straight at a speed where your nose level also equals your flight direction, the sight and rocket tragectory won't match up.

Stang, it works on 110s because those are air burst rockets, not air to ground.
Also, if you're "on the ball" then a2g rocket gunsights can work... It just depends on many things (including angle and speed).

CBass,
You can check my collection if you want. Not sure if it is in there or not.
But like Krusty was saying, they are a2a so they will work if your on the ball. I use the for ground targets, you just need to be about 1.5 out and fire away, and they will do some damage.

lol Yes I know they are A2A rockets. I've actually had a lot of success dogfighting with them over the years. But again you have to literally be flying dead straight for them to go where the sight is pointed. Most of the time I have to feel which way I'm going and fire them based off of that.
If you don't believe me wait til you get your tail shot off in a 100 then fire them when you are flat spinning to the earth nose up. Instead of shooting off into the sky the rockets fire inexplicably straight down the way you are headed, not anywhere remotely near where the rocket tubes are pointing.

Cbass theres no need for a sight for the 110s rockets because it has a sight built in. What I do is get level with the bomber formations on thier dead six. The very second the icon goes from 1.5 to 1.0 you fire two rockets with a delay between .50 and 1.0 then break off before they get a shot on you. I carry the four rockets so i do that again and will get two or three every time. Fire with the lead bomber in this box and youll get him.

The same is with all rockets stang.

Thanks for the help everyone. I use them for hunting bombers and have had some success with them. I'm just bad at judging the drop on them from when they are fired and though a sight might help. I guess ill figure it out over time.

Its not a sure thing, but Baumers "bar" sight is a help if you hunt buffs with rockets IMO.
Basicly put the bar over the lead bomber, when the wings and bar are same length let fly.
Best distance someplace between 1.0 and 1.2. Straight and level in autopilot seems to help make it more accurate. (unloaded and trimmed perfectly)

u mean the red trapizoid at the bottom of the sight?

I thought the sight with the 2 dots on it was for that. The middle dot and the bottom dot.

Yes the frame that holds the glass sight is itself a sight for the rockets. Look where the bombers are, that rocket being shot killed two of them. You fire right when the range goes to 1.0 because the bombers are 1.2 away when it does. the rockets explode at 1.3. Do this and you will get a kill everytime.

and i can ATTEST that it DOES work!!
