Title: Separate engine on/off toggles
Post by: Krusty on March 10, 2008, 03:29:29 PM
I wish you could turn an engine on or off WITHOUT having to select all engines for multi-engine planes. When shutting 1 engine down you have to then select the other engine before inputs kick in, and if you select "All engines" it restarts the shut-down engine.

This is especially annoying on 4-engine planes (as you can NOT select all 3 remaining engines after this point, nor can you select just 2 engines). However, it is also annoying on 2-engine planes.

 :furious

I wish there were, in addition to "start all engines" a separate key for "Toggle eng1 on/off," "Toggle eng2 on/off," and so forth.

If need be, leave them unmapped by default (like the mode switch keys), but it would be most helpful with engine and damage control in this game!

did I miss something or have a bad hallucination krusty?

But I could of sworn that one could hit a number on the KP,then hit E and it would shut that engine on or off seperatly from the others??

Yes you can. Shift 1, E. Shift 4, E. CRTL E, throttle controls engines 2 and 3. Assuming you're in the air with all four engines on, of course.
You are teh LOSER!  :lol

Here's the problem. You CAN shut down 1 engine at a time, but you must select it.

Once it's selected, you cannot control the others. You have to select the other engine, if in a twin, and you can NOT select multiple engines, so you cannot select the other 3 engines on a heavy bomber. Basically you're screwed in a 4-engine, and you're seriously inconvenienced in a twin-engine.

Have you ever tried to accommodate someone by at least trying to understand what they're saying?

Some people that don't speak English very well do play this game, you never know when you're going to run into one. At least try to understand!

By the way, eskimoejoe, if you CTRL-E, it selects (and STARTS) all engines. The engines you shut down will start up again so that all engines are running. It's very annoying.

Negative sir, SHIFT E starts all engines, however CTRL E SELECTS all engines. I've shut off my 1 and 4 engines in a B24 and controlled both the 2 and 3 engines at the same time to help lose altitude. Maybe we can meet sometime in the TA so I can show you.

If this is so, then that would fill the request. I'll have to check it out tonight when I get home.

If it works, thanks!  :)
