I've come back to the game and now have a laptop tha i am running it on. All goes well, but several planes have bizzare lines or black triangles on the cocpit image that make them unflyable. Currently have AMD Athlon dual core 1.7ghz, 2.5gb ram, ati radeon xpress 1150(i think) integrated graphics card. Also running XP home, and i have done the dual core fix suggested in the sticky.
this is the worst i have seen yet.

any possible fixes would be wonderful, as i miss flying sevral of these planes.

Try turning the "Maximum Texture Size" in the game's "Video Settings" to 256. Onboard video chips are really not very robust.

You might want to try the following link, if you haven't already done the patch.
Windows XP Hotfix Patch: KB896256. This patch seems to clear up quite a few issues with "dual core" stuff.

none of that is working, so i'l going to try a fresh install to see if that helps. i've been running it on 1024 texture size with no problems other than that, and have had it in 98 compatability mode to eliminte dual core problems. hopefully a reinstall will help.

and it didnt do anything, still having the same problems with the same planes.... the good news is its not my primary aircraft, but some i would still liek to fly them sometimes... i havent even got a clue as to what the problem is...

i sent an email to support, but am still wondering if anybody else has any ideas....

If it does it regardless of the texture size, and assuming you did not interrupt the cache build process by minimizing the game, then I would say it is probably related to the video chip itself or possibly some anti-virus prgram running while the data was being built. Just guessing now.
With onboard video chips there ususally is some type of issue.

if an antivirus will cause problems with the build, that might be it. i do run Avast on this computer. as far as the chip having problems, i've run evrything form freelancer to FS9 to silent hunter 4. No problems with them. i'll definately try running it without Avast running. thanks for the input.

anti-virus had no effect at all. need something else to try...

and it was a matter of graphics drivers, ATI released new ones a few days ago.... have em now and evryhting is working now, yet i still feel stupid >_<
