Salute (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Yesterday, I was posting some thoughts in the CMC Domain NewsGroups, and spilled the beans on my "not so original" idea. <they did it in WWII-for CODs Sake!!>
(this may have been offered up-sorry if it's a repeat)
WHAT IF......a CV came along shore, hosed a base, and then had....say 4 pielets take 4 landing craft from the CV to the shore of the dead base?? Without 4, it wont allow the landing craft to be launched. Let's also say, the 4 carry 50 troops, and that it takes 100 to capture. That means 2 LCs can get killed, or the drunks get hosed by fiters or gvs.
Lots of scenarios come to mind, but maybe it is doable. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Change 50 to 5 and it'll work with the current capture setup.

True, but I was thinking that paras might be graded as a higher rank than grunts. Like 100 pound bombs vs 4000 pounders. I dont write code or anything like that, but it seems like it would be a cool feature.
The higgins boats were simple plywood and the front ramp <Press "O" to open> would prolly be nothing more than the PT boat, art revised, and then add the drunks. 50 per boat may be too many, but it should be a challenge, as it would be k-kool to see it happening!!

Like we needed another reason to hate off-shore CVs?
Actually, I think this is a *great* idea with one modification: Stick to 10 troops per Higgins (water-going equivalent of the troop carrier) but we'd need offshore batteries! Maybe 4 of the big guns you see in the CV group.
Make it so bringing in a CV without taking out the batteries would be a very bad idea.
The reason: Driving a truck from base to base is SLOOOOW work, but with the fast moving CVs the troops can get close in short order.
So with offshore batteries we keep the CVs just far enough away to keep the 'base to base' distances sane. You 'could' take out the batteries, but when they suddenly grow back... OUCH!
The CV needs to be used the way it was used in RL: A movable airbase, but not something you bring in super close to shore.
P.S. PT boats need a smoke dispenser, they can't take a CV without one.

You don't need to worry. Version 1.05 was supposed to have the LVT "Amtrack" in it, though obviously it didn't make it in. It is an amphibious tractor. So it can paddle up to the beach, and then onto land and to the base.
I guess it didn't make the cut. I think it will be in the next version or two.
The LVT is armed with .30 and .50 caliber machineguns.
