Title: Logitech Extreme 3D Pro programmed buttons
Post by: apcampbell on March 14, 2008, 12:00:04 PM
For those who have this J/S, how do you have yours programmed? I'm looking to find a more efficient program layout. Here's my current settings:

For the thumb buttons:
Upper Left- Squad Voice
Lower left-Zoom
Upper Right-Range Voice
Lower Right-WEP
Primary Trigger-All Guns
Thumb Trigger-Bombs/Rockets
Top Hat- All 8 Horizontal Position Views

For the Function Buttons on the side:
Left Top-Gun Camera
Left Middle-Map Zoom In
Left Bottom-look Up
Right Top-Center Target Highlight
Right Middle-Map Zoom Out
Right Bottom-Check 6

And finally, the Throttle.

One of my squaddies told me his setup as he has the same J/S, however would like to compare to a few other setups to see if there's something else that I might find usefull.

I am still tinkering around with mine but for the most part I am happy with my settings though.

Thumb buttons
upper left: change secondary weapon
lower left: primary weapon only fire
upper right: bombbay doors open (changing to range)
lower right: look up (changing to vox(squad) channel)
Primary trigger: all guns
Thumb trigger: secondary weapons fire (bombs rockets)
hat switch: views (with minor change forward look is mapped to forward and up (this helped greatly with SA))

Function buttons on side
left top: autopilot angle
left middle: flaps down
left bottom: gear down
right top: look up
right middle: flaps up
right bottom: WEP

Throttle is mapped to throttle in game
I had 2 buttons mapped to look up because I was trying to give myself a transitioning period to the newly mapped button I will probably be changing the right thumb buttons to the vox channels this weekend though. Just wanted to let you know why there are 2 look up buttons mapped in case you were wondering though.

When I set my stick up though I tried to keep the buttons mapped to things I would use the most in a fight or the things that I would need in a hurry and might not have time to look around for them on the keyboard. For instance I rarely use the zoom when fighting I find that messes up my aim more than it helps (IMO). I also do not have check 6 mapped either because if I have time to give one I can do it over range and if I have plenty of time then I can take time to find it on keyboard.

Hope this helps

I have to think about it as I haven't played in a few weeks.

For the thumb buttons:
Upper Left- Flaps Down
Lower left-Zoom
Upper Right-Flaps Up
Lower Right-Cycle Secondary
Primary Trigger-All Guns
Thumb Trigger-Secondary
Top Hat- All 8 Horizontal Position Views (Forward is set as straight forward/off to the right for snap shots)

For the Function Buttons on the side:
Left Top-Squad Transmit
Left Middle-WEP
Left Bottom-Look Up
Right Top-Range Transmit
Right Middle-Dive Flaps
Right Bottom-Engine Start/Stop

This is setup for flying a Jug D-40 (my primary ride) so some of the buttons don't apply. One thing I changed though, for flight mode 3 I have the trigger fire primary only (great for cannon birds like the B-25H & P-38) For flight mode 4 I've got it set where the dive flaps is changed to the gears (Up/Down) for the rare occasion when I up a Hog.

The flaps are probably the most used button aside from my hat switch & they're easy to hit while in flight & doesn't hinder my shooting yet lets me get them in & out as fast as possible.

Upper Left-Change secondary weapon
Lower left-Squad Voice
Upper Right-WEP
Lower Right-Range Voice
Primary Trigger-Fire primary
Thumb Trigger-Fire Secondary
Top Hat- All 8 Horizontal Position Views

For the Function Buttons on the side:
Left Top-Lvl Flight
Left Middle-Gas select
Left Bottom-Landing Gear
Right Top-Unknown
Right Middle-Map
Right Bottom-Landing hook

I prefer using the keyboard for certain buttons like Zoom and Auto Flight.  Just my opinion  :aok
