Title: Which powered USB hub to get?
Post by: fuzeman on March 14, 2008, 03:44:19 PM
Ordering my CH Throttle now and I'll need a powered USB hub to keep the power good.

Any recommendations on which powered USB hub to purchase? 50/50 split on performance vs economical rating.

PS- I strongly dislike the new search function!!!

I paid $50 for mine.   But it's been worth it.   It has a base with 3 ports and a detachable hub with 4 more ports on it, for my laptop.

I bought it at Best Buy about a month ago.  It's been worth it.

Mine's a Dynex 7 port hub. Make sure you get one with a separate power supply.
Also do not put usb headsets on it. Causes Lag on the stick.

Replies 104 and 108 have suggestions for a couple hubs.

I use a Belkin (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=159070) All 3 CH pieces plug into it, with a spare for my memory stick. Never any troubles with my stick..... well other than a button going bad  :) but I got that fixed with a bit of help from "HomeBoy"

fuzeman,
I'm using a Belkin USB 2.0. It has a separate power supply and 7 ports. Paid~$35 at Bestbuy ~ 1 year ago. Solves a myriad of USB problems, particularly with CH gear - really smoothed out the comm link between the stick/throttle and computer.

Go Belkin....................pur e, plain & simple.

Yes, there are others out there that work just fine.

But to confess, I'm very biased toward Belkin as I've been using the Belkin model that I have w/ my CH stuff for 6-7 yrs now w/o any problems (Belkin ExpressBus 4-port USB 1.1 hub). This model is discontinued but the newer Belkin products are just as solid.

This morning I picked up the same, Belkin 7 port powered USB hub.  The difference with Saitek stick/throttle is amazing.  No more jerkyness, no more having the nose of the plane jump all over even with the smallest stick input.  The nose of the plane actually points where I tell it.  Of course that's still my biggest ptoblem.  The nose points where I tell it not where I need it.

I bought one of these a month ago with 7ports and power adapter. Good reviews and works fine for me so far.
 $24.95 at newegg

That's what I use.  Cheap & it does the job.
