Crazy story from a nearby small town. Bob Popplewell, the owner of Bayou Bob's Brazos River Rattlesnake Ranch in Palo Pinto County was busted with 411 bottles of rattlesnake vodka. It looks like he was exporting most of it. I think I'll pass.

Guess you never had a "snake shot" at the Boogie house in SK. I have the T-shirt. :rock

What self respecting Texan would be caught dead making vodka?!?!?!?! I could understand Tequila and Whiskey, but vodka???? :uhoh

Actually, there is Tito's Handmade Texas Vodka made outside Austin. It's pretty good.
I think all this guy was doing was buying cheap rotgut vodka and putting a snake inside.

if you get a chance to try it:

honestly I have not had a ton of premium Vodka's, but it beats the poop out of Belvedere, Kettle One, Grey Goose, and anything I have found in a bar.

I've met Bert "Tito" Beverage before and he's a really cool guy. He fought an uphill battle to get his vodka on the market and won several awards in the process. It's made from 100% corn and has a very clean taste. First legal distillery in Texas.

In all fairness, perhaps the title was too much of an inside joke. A "cedarhacker" is someone that lives along the Brazos River near Possum Kingdom Lake and cuts cedar fence posts. They are just about as rough, tough and country as it gets.

Tequila con Vibora
Specialty of the house, Rancho Agua Caliente, Ensenada, Mexico
1 gallon (or so) of cheap white tequila
1 small rattlesnake (red diamondback preferred)
Catch the rattlesnake with a "special stick". Place the rattlesnake into a gallon jar, then fill with the cheap white tequila. As the snake drowns, it (allegedly) emits "minute amounts of compounds with certain medicinal properties." When the snake is dead, remove from jar, gut snake, then put back in jar. Put the jar in the sun for three months, then in the shade for three months. Serve as shots. "It calms the nerves," says Francisco, "and is a fine remedy for arthritis, kidney problems and cancer."
Salud.
