:salute To the Allies on the good job taking 78 back from the Axis horde. This was the first time I seen Allies have numbers on Axis and it was a telling blow once we got organized.
Thanks goes to:
Zeiss, Soda72, Flatiron, TheBug, Arlo (Guthrie) Drake, CatsEys, and many more who's names I forget.
Thanks too to, Greyga, BCAdoo Grits, and others who helped with the deflowering of that other Axis base... A77.
LW put up an excellent deffence, at both bases, and deserve a "Well done!"

The gremlins of WW2 have hounded a certain pilot in the AvA so much lately, that HQ deems a special ribbon be awarded said pilot. However, HQ had so much trouble deciding on a single award, that they came up with two, for variety sake...
Ghost Ducky: Awarded for mysterious disapperances at critical times in combat.

Sitting Duck:
Awarded to the pilot that, despite overwhelming odds and in the face om certain death, presses on to successfully hit their target. (Can be used in lieu of the GD ribbon.

Heh ... I keyed the mike to sound all sorts of leadership qualified by directing how I wanted the groups to approach target and the whole world came to a stop (my screen freezes up on vox disco). It probably saved me the additional embarrassment of having an even larger group watch me bomb the trees to death a thousand yards beyond the field ... again.. :D

Well, if we are going to honestly critique our performance at A77, I would attribute our failure not to the Axis defense but to the cluster **** it was in terms of our organization. I am not assigning any blame, pointing any fingers, or claiming I could have done it better, just making an observation. This is not to say the Axis can not defend well, they can, but in this particular instance it was not the deciding factor IMO.

spot on!!! at one point you guys were within two troops of a take. quick action on the part of 10thMD and other elements of JG11 and the prompt response (read as mass augerings) on the part of JG54 turned back the tide.
you fellows need to polish you act a bit. you may want to get vultching lessons from 1hunglo, he may not be good at much but he can vultch well.

Agreed.

You know, its one of those things that happens some times no matter how well an operation is planned, it just cant be avoided occasionally. We would get close with troops and nobody was OTW with more. Then, too many would up with troops and we would lose CAP and the goons got killed. Town buildings would start popping and the whole cycle would start over. Our next IB wave of people always had the aircraft we needed in the last phase and werent needed in the current phase. We just need to polish it up a bit.

Let's not demean a positive thing, please...

At the time we were attacking A77, the Axis was out numbered. This is why I say "Excellent Defense" of it... by two and then three Axis players.
Could we have taken it sooner? Sure, and for the reasons you slapped the Allies in the face with. And all the hype (my own included) about the Allies "Getting it together" is as effective as spitting in a hurricane. Most Squads already know the Allies need to work together. Gaidin managed to gather up a core group of us and we created mayhem. But the 8 out of the 24 Allies on at the time could not do it without the other 16 helping out. Getting those other 16 to cooperate was eventually done by screaming on country, "HUGE furball at P107"! My head spun at how fast the Allied numbers grew at that one fight after announcing it.
I am rambling now, but at least my bp is back in control.
:salute

Odee, I did not mean to slap anyone in the face and I am sorry if that is how it came across. I apologize to any Allies that I offended. I was there, I am as guilty of the things I described as anyone else.
The reason I posted what I did was if we are to prevent making those mistakes in the future we have to self-critical and acknowledge them.
Sorry again if I was too harsh, it was not my intent.

No worries man. :rock
I was trying the "spoon fed softy" route to inspire the loners in AvA, and show them that with the big "C" (cooperation) we can beat the Axis 6 ways to Sunday.
I was in there yesterday for over 6 hours and could only gather a handfull out of the 20 some players to get with the program. Grits came stepped up, and gathered a double handfull of players together. I gladly sat back with minmal suggestions/revisions to his plans.
I am not the Boss in AvA, but I was a Battle Commander that steps up when no other leadership is available, and to be quite honest, I was mentally kicking Arlo's butt for saying I was the boss to everyone in ear shot, when only 3 or 4 guys were following my suggestions at all.
I'm rambling again... CINCDOM-1 ack is horrendous atm.

Heck, I just kind of think out loud. I am not an expert at taking bases, I've done it very little as in the past it was not an aspect of the game I was interested in. If I managed to get someone to do something positive it was by totally by accident.

Uh-huh. This is why you where the B/K badge of honor, right? :aok

The fact that I am a BK should support my claim to disorganization and lack of base taking skill. Once the BKs tried to take a base and the guy with the goon couldnt figure out how to drop the troops. :rofl

Yeah, and that was the last time I took part in a base capture before last night at A77. :)
