WOO!! WOO!!
I'm sure I'm not the first, but I'm pleased with myself... :D :D
Offline Training Arena, 20K air spawn, Me-163, Fuel burn multiplier set to 0.001, Wind settings South to North (or was it North to South) 127mph, +127mph wind rise at all altitudes...
Anyways,

I haven't worked out how to post a film yet. And there was probably no point in me posting this here, I know, but it's 12:20 AM, I should be studying for my GCSEs, and meh.

EDIT: BTW my top speed was approximately Mach 1.22
-
:lol
I have to try this out!
-
Weak! :)
-
I've gotten to Mach 1.15 before without any tweaks to the plane or wind. Did it in TA, climbed to 70K, leveled off, went to mach 0.90 in level flight, then dove. Someone did break Mach 2, but they went offline and set wind to max, and all sorts of other helpful things.
-
Haha, Ive gotten to 1.27 w/o wind.
-
1.42 with nothing :)
photobuckets bein gay and wont let me upload so ill get pic to u guys ASAP
-
my best is .99 in a temp and then it exsploded
-
TA from a normal base. Iv gone faster before, but heres the only pic I have.

What does wind have to do with it? Mach is an airspeed.
-
Um updraft lets you climb alot faster. Downdraft makes you go faster when diving.
-
"Um updraft lets you climb alot faster. Downdraft makes you go faster when diving."
I didn't know you could create up/down drafts in AH?! By the way a downdraft while diving is not going to make it any easier to break the sound barrier since (like was already mention) it's based on your air speed. All a down draft is going to do is make you run out of altitude quicker.
-
The max speed wind can be set to is 127mph. A 127mph downdraft will make you lose alt alot faster but it will also give you airspeed since the wind is pushing you down in your dive.
-
Ive done it a in SpitMk1 easy as crap

Yes but it will not be variable. It will be a sustained wind.
:aok

Nice BSing.

Anyone else try to close out the pic by clicking the close button in his pic?

Hmmm. Doesn't work that way in the real world.

pssst.........game.........
-
I think i did that in my P-51 :rofl diveing in on a FH one night, couldnt really tell i was in a red out and didnt have any tail or wings looked like a V2 screamin in on london. :huh :rock

Well, I expected that I wasn't the first, but Mach 2!!?? :O :O Really!
I was under the impression that 163s weren't capable of supersonic flight...don't know why though.
Also, whenever I get very high, (at least by my standards), e.g. 60K in a 163, maybe 48K in a jug, I find that my plane seems to flop all over the place. I think this is due to the thin air, but is there anyway to lessen the effects of this?
Anyway, I'll keep trying

P.S. do planes run out of fuel very quickly when at higher altitudes?
-
Yossarian they will sometimes i notice.

Pssst, you're missing the point. You will be approaching the ground 127mph quicker, but your airspeed won't be any higher (hint, the air is going 127mph in the same direction as you).
-
done 1.2 in a 262 before... i broke my wing tips off so i had less drag.
however since airflow code updates i hit a brick wall in the 262 now, it just wont go to 1.00 anymore it seems?
-
I'll try that offline now, assuming I don't get any 'parental ack' for it...

got dumped and i managed to take this pic when i lost connection

Managed to snap this just as I hit the deck, it was a P51D... and yes I used every posible setting to help :noid

It looks like you have broken the laws of physics or perhaps it's some quantum physics stuff going on. One thing for sure, you are producing over 1.3 million gallons of gas every hour. You are a rich man, a very rich man! :rock

:rofl Look at how much the weight

I made a PT boat fly before. Got it up to about 20K.

Rule #8

Got me curious, the only way I imagine you'd get whacked out values like that is after crashing thru the ground, and getting one of those weird post-crash accelerations through the void. I just tested it and the values stay "normal". So Allen Rune might have to give some explanations..

Snip
Krusty I'd edit this post if I were you. Not trying to start anything, just... well .... you know how HTC responds to accusations like this.
-
well, I've never managed to go through the ground before (although I must admit that it sounds fun :)), but I tried going supersonic in an Ar-234, 163, 262, RV-8, Typhoon, Tempest, and Spitfire XIV this morning, with standard settings, but no luck.
I had to go to school though, so I only really went up to 30k (and no I didn't get in on time... :o)

So having Rosie O' Donald in the plane is a setting?

Yup all this talk about top speed make me remember the time I went mach 9.....fun times. :noid

163 was not able, in Real life, to pass through the mack barrier without losing control over the wings. Shock barrier built up and would tear the control surfaces off. As well, that mach number cannot be correct, at 20K. Mach number is calculated with temperature and humidity, neither of which are modelled, to my knowledge, in AH.

Explination: settings used: A3 air spawn, full down draft wind, fuel burn rate mult set to exactly 10000000000.0 (this screwed it up pretty bad and ended up ADDING fuel :D)
loadout: full fuel with DTs
How I did it:
First thing I did was raise gear, then went full throt, then opend e6b, watched until I got to mach .81,
then droped both tanks and turned on wep at the same time, because of the wieght this created a slingshot effect, I was shot strait up in an insain climb (after I lost quite a lot of metal) to well over 100k before I went plumenting down well past the sound barier. You have to get the timing of droping the tanks just right otherwise you just crash in midair.
I also have a film of me doing it but not from that particular pic.
