Title: Another New Build Post
Post by: IFF52nd on March 15, 2008, 08:11:06 PM
I thought I would go ahead and post my new computer specs sice I'm seeing great systems being built out there.

Mobo:  Asus P5E LGA 775 Intel X38, PCI Express 2.0x16, 1600/1333 MHz FSB
Vid Card: BFG Tech GeForce 8800GTX 768mb 384 bit GDDR3 PCI Exp. x16
Power: OCZ ModxStream 900W
CPU:  Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3.0 Ghz LGA 775 65W
RAM:  Crucial Ballistix 2 GB (2 x 1GB) Dual Channel Kit
HD:  Samsung Spinpoint T Series 320 GB SATA
Case:  Thermaltake Armor Series VA8003BWS Full Tower

I'm going to reuse my DVD-RW drive and some other things.  I elected to go with the P5E mobo because of all the great reviews and it's inherent stability.  The case is full tower because the vid card is very large and I don't want to notch out any drive bays.  In addition, it come with great cooling fans and room to install more if I wish.

Salute all,
BeDee

IFF52nd,

Why did you choose the P5E.  I'm now considering that board but havn't found much info on it yet.  It supports PCI-E 2.0 but the video card you have chosen is not PCI-E 2.0.  Are there other advantages you see to the X38 chipset?
