THE FIRST PRACTICE MISSION WILL BE ON MARCH 20th IN THE TRAINING ARENA 9:00 EST AND ON MARCH 22TH AT 9:00 EST, I WILL PM YOU THE ALL THE INFO ON THE PRACTICE AND THE MISSION BY TUESDAY. Hope to see you there<S>
On April 18, I will be re-creating the Doolittle raid. On that day 66 years ago 16 B-25 planes rolled off the carrier Hornet and bomb Japan. The time of the mission will be around 8:00 or 9:00pm EST
To do this mission we will take B-25Cs with 50% fuel, 6 500 lbs bombs, and the glass gun. We will take off from a airbase in which we will head towards a cv and land on the carrier. We will then back-up into position and wait for my command to take off and bomb factories. After the bombing we will crash land somewhere away from the bombing. I will record this and place it on Youtube. Reply if you want to take part in this mission.

when they released the B-25 some friends and i re-enacted that mission.I hosted the Japan map by Raptor in H2H and placed the CV's in the right places. We launched from the CV only after i turned the wind up i believe it was 20 MPH wind with a 15 MPH rise.It was a very fun thing to do, maybe you could get one of the CM's from the SEA involved and do a snapshot on that day for it.I believe ROC is the person to talk to on that topic in the Special Events section of this Bulletin Board.

Jacob DeShazer, one of the Doolittle Raiders who was made a POW and who later went back to Japan as a Missionary passed away this weekend, for what it's worth.
Sad to know we've lost another one :(

Homer since you wouldn't let me join your plane as a gunner on the first raid, I am going to destroy your raid with a 262 when you launch it.
-
If they're flying in the TA, good luck.

Hey I have been trying to land a B-25 on a CV with not much luck. I can get it down but in no condition to launch again. Knowing that many of you know how to do this could one of you please post some instructions on how to go about doing it?
Thanks,
KayBay

KayBayRay, I've done it before, but I've also struggled with Microsoft Flight Sim flight dynamics for a few years.
As long as you can land a plane on a regular airfield, you should be able to land the B-25 on the CV (at least I could on the old ones).
When you're landing, make sure that the CV isn't turning at all. Next, make sure that you have full flaps, and gear down well in advance. Don't be afraid to use full throttle with WEP as necessary if you feel you're getting to low.
Finally: make sure you come in well to the left of the carrier's island, but also ensure you avoid the elevator.
Good luck :aok
