Just sort of a random thought that could be great for immersion, ESPECIALLY in the historical maps (AVA, FSO, SEA, etc).
Why not allow certain fields to actually have names, rather than just generic numbers? (Air Warrior did this in the later versions).
Example, let's say in a Pearl Harbor map, instead of the Japanese taking off from C20, 22, 30, and 40 they're taking off from Shokaku, Zuikaku, Hiryu, and Akagi. And instead of attacking A5 and A7, they appear on the map as Wheeler and Hickam.
Granted this may not work too well in the Mains, but would be a nice touch for historical setups.

Quick solution- clipboard maps labelled like Rhine was for DGS (the names of the German towns were part of the clipboard map), so that players can simply toggle Field Numbers off, keeping icons on, and get the same result. Just a thought, as if the terrain guys don't have enough to worry about and try to do already.

Well that'd be fine for stuff that's stationary and doesn't move, but that wouldn't work for carriers.
And how is it something to worry about? They have to number the fields anyway, they can just have a "Number" name, and a "Display" name. With the Display name defaulting to the number unless specified otherwise.
