LSTs Launched from a CV would land on a beach enabling regular tanks to come ashore.
Kind of a mobile GV spawn point but would first have to make it to shore to launch tanks.
Can only be launched by the person that controls the CV
Once destroyed it follows the same rules as the rest of the ships in a CV
-
I like it. Would be more historically accurate if only shermans and m3s could be launched.

While the idea is neat. I will give it that much. The LSTs were massive, far too large to "launch from a CV". Infact they were a seperate ship in the fleet, not stored on board any other ship.

BTW, Im not trying to be a butt or anything, just pointing out stuff. :P

True, but itd be easier to model it as a "launchable" vehicle, until we get an option to conrol ships independently. Then we can have some real fun with cruisers leaving the CV further out at sea.

Well what they could do is make it follow in the fleet and when it gets close enought to land it will show a spawn point on the land yet still remain a "part" of the fleet and still spawn GVs without actually going and beaching itself.

LST, Large Stationary Target. They were very slow and a prime target. Also if i remember right they had some issues with reefs and only being able to be run in during certain times of the tides? Add them and most enemy cons will have a field day shooting them worse than they do with pt's and lvt's now. Then again the thought of being able to sneak some tanks in close has it's appeal. ;)

They could put some 40mm quads on it or somehting. :O make the Aircraft fear what they are about to bomb.

Make them as hard as curent VHs.
Meaning make them so it takes the same amount of ord to destroy.
Could mount some guns on them for protection. but its primary protection would ammumingly be from the carrier based aircraft and from the GVs themseves. as well as from the ships main guns.
Pts could also escort them in.
It would add a whole new dynamic to the Cv game and certainly give basetaking from a CV more of an invasion feel.
Right now the HE shooting LTVs are inadequit particularly when facing enemy armor and hardly ever used cept to bring troops ashore
-
just like a PT you could spwan from the CV then drive to shore
-
LSTs are too big to just spawn from a CV, they would have to be included as a part of the current fleet or make new support fleets. :aok

CV's never spawned PT Boats or LVTs either, spawning an LST from the CV fleet would be the same kind of game play concession as spawning the pt's and lvt's is right now.

I beg to differ! :lol

Your point would be?.......
PT Boats weren't part of CV groups, neither were LVT's, yet we can spawn both from the CV fleets. How is it not the same type of game play concession to spawn an LST from the fleet? I see no difference in the type of game play concession just because of size.

regardless of the arguments presented.
Gotta admit the idea does have merit.
The more I think about this the more Im liking it

I think the idea of being able to incorporate tanks into an amphibious
landing is one with merit and easily incorporated into the current naval operations system.
Rather than getting into the LST thing, why not merely use LCMs? This would necessitate
the inclusion of a transport to those TFs designated as amphibious assault capable, but
if those were included, the LCMs could be and were, mounted on overhanging davits
on the transports.
Tanks of approximately 30 tons were the limit. As we don't have any Stuarts, I'm certain
that some of the other gunned vehicles would suffice to make this worth consideration.
At some point, I'm certain that HTC will review the Task Force situation as it currently
stands and implement some changes/additions with regards to TF compositions,
TF roles, and heck, if we ever did get that transport to carry the LCMs, it could be used
dual-purpose as a supply ship, just as we currently use M3s Jeeps, and Dakotas for that now.
It's obvious to me that there is a LOT of excitement in the game with regards to fleets.
The sighting of one generates several lines of "Enemy Fleet!" , "Task Force Sighted!", etc..
hordes of pilots swarm to the reported field knowing that nine times out of ten there's
going to be a lot of action (read "fun") at that field or port. And this is with things
as simplistic as they can possibly be. Adding a transport shipt and an several LCMs
to a fleet(s) would, I think, generate even more excitement and fun for a lot of folks.
