Wouldn't it be nice to be able to have the support ships make smoke like they did in real life to screen them some what from enemy gunners? I'm sure they'd have to make it somewhat like with the tanks smoke shells, in that it would degrade your ability to return fire also, but it could be usefull against low flying torpedo runners, pt's, ect... Could make things a lot more interesting as far as ship attack/defense.

Not really going to be that useful until we can detach Destroyers from the main group.
Then smoke would be quite nice, as a couple of destroyers could make a screen between 2 fleets.
Then rejoin the task group.
Most PT boats also had smoke generators, would love to see them get installed while we are at it.

PT boat smoke generators sound great :D
Do you know how long they could be kept on for?

If we do anything to the fleet can we PLEASE put the number of the CV so we know which one it is and which port it goes to?

I don't know if this is what you mean, but I would love it if the port number (base number) was put on the side of the CV it was attached to.

It already is there. If you have CV51 floating around out there, it came from Port 50. CV numbers are always the next number after their respective port on the map.

Wow. Didn't know that :huh. :D

Hornet I think he meant when flying over a enemy cv. It would be nice to know if your trying to bomb the right one. This would be useful when scouting for a cv thats been taken from the front lines.

Well if you knew the CV numbers of the enemy CV's that wouldn't be much fun and no challenge at all. Not knowing makes you have to work harder for it, plus it wouldn't be very realistic. Pilots in WWII didn't know the names of the ships they were attacking, just that they were attacking a flat top.

Not sure but i think most pilots were briefed on the name of the capital ship they were attacking if recon info had been received. CV and Battleship's would more than likely have been well known and the recon/spotter pilots would have identified them for the strike group. Not sure how you could make this work in the game though? I thought of the smoke idea while flying in one of the fog banks we have on some maps. Was zipping along wavetop high in a 110 chuckling that no one could see me and i was going to hit there v-base before they could find me. To my shock and horror at full speed i run right into a CV force in the middle of the fog bank. :O Needless to say i died a quick and ugly death. :cry Really got me thinking of how effective the smoke could be in the game and maybe add some greater difficulty for attacking a fleet.
