A must try for any Vodka Fans. Relatively new, and truly beautiful.

Arlo, if you're still nurturing a drinking habit like you were last time we discussed this, I highly recommend you try an ice-cold shot of this, chased by a fresh cucumber sprinkled with some salt.

I never got the whole "luxury vodka" thing. Once they are triple distilled and filtered, all vodkas are pretty much alike.

You not being able to taste the difference and all of them being alike are two very different things.
-
So would you compare this more to the red or blue capped majorska lmfao.
-
Give this a try, Neubob...

It's smoothness gently washes over your pallet like a garbage truck running headlong into a brick wall. ;)
Me, I'm fine with Smirnoff or Absolute, but I might just give this a try the next time I'm in the mood for vodka. Thanks for the post.

Neubob and alcohol...do you really think this is a good idea?
-
Neubob frankly i'm glad to see your back. You do have some sharp internet jabs there, that always would make me laugh to myself...... :) :devil
Sort of like this one, lol.
You not being able to taste the difference and all of them being alike are two very different things.
made me snicker.....

For a finn there's only one:

Makes a very tasty shot when blended with liquorice candy:

For export there's the now American owned Finlandia naturally:

The true Vodka can not be 30 alc/vol. The true Vodka can be only 40 and higher.

A vodka that's flavored with berries is far past worrying about its alcohol content.
-
It's not the vodka I'm worried about, comrade.
-
oh yeah?
What worries you?
-
The stripper that drank it.
-
hey now....
Being only 21 ive experimented but not too much. UV Blue was cheap and plentiful at the place i partied most when i was in high school; St. Cloud State University. Mix it with lemonade and its a great drink for beer-pong. Sorry guys, dont like beer, cant stand the taste, cant stand the smell, cant stand it period! And now that im 21, i tried Grey Goose and love it....
Being said, ive only tried one other vodka, and that was Skyy and it was pretty good!

Chasing vodka with high water-content vegetables (like cucumbers, radishes or sweet peppers), or other select food items is actually a traditional way to consume it in the regions where it originated.
Far better than any liquid, using certain food is more effective at cleaning the palate and evacuating the fumes from the sinuses (especially if you use pickles). It also prevents one from drinking too much on an empty or nearly empty stomach and adds a social aspect to it that you simply won't get by slamming orange juice after every shot.
-
I've been bit by the Goose many times.......Especially on bus trips to football games. :D
We make vodka wedges..... ;)
-
My normal summer drink is a Vodka Wedge. Vodka, Polar bear and a splash of orange juice. If it before 9am I will hit the bloody marry with some extra spice to get my GERD really going. Used to be a huge Goose fan but have really started investing my time into Swedka, Really decent. Tried 3 olives but it had a greasy taste for me. Winter drink is vodak mixed Sierra Mist free (watching my waste line) or whatever is in the house, by the way getting vodka in the kids juice box is tough but I have a system down for anyone who needs it. :)
-
This is my favourite.
I've never liked Vodka as a drink before this. I've had it before but never actually like the taste. It was always a 'drink to get twittle'd up' spirit.
I bought a bottle of Zubrowka a while ago and I loved it.
I actually enjoy the same way I enjoy a nice scotch. Roll it over the tongue and savour the taste... all that jazz.
Truly a refreshing drink, very enjoyable on a cold evening.
I quite enjoy a glass of Zubrowka whilst working on skins for Aces High, actually.
Retails for roughly $38 AUD... Which is the same price as Smirnoff Blue (which is awful)... so it's a good buy.

By the time I reached 21, my best drinking days were behind me. Gotta love the British binge drinking culture.

Baaaaaaaaaaaahhh! If you`re going to drink vodka, drink vodka. If you are going to eat fruits and veggies go to the health food store. :)
If I were going to drink OJ I`d go to Brookshires.

This "green mark" vodka isn't my favorite, but it shows how it should be consumed. Listen to Neubob, he tells wise things.
This one is my current favorite, it has cedar-nuts in a bottle: http://www.cristall-lefortovo.ru/index.php?id=31
This one is just the cheapest good no-hangover vodka here: http://www.cristall-lefortovo.ru/index.php?id=38
First one is average 140 rubles per half-litre, second is 100 rubles. Current rate is 23 rubles per one US dollar.

White zubrowka?! Well, it's a Polish vodka, so they probably know better. Here it's usually light-brown because of the herbs.
Does anyone like pepper vodka? Like Nemiroff Honey-Pepper, I know it's exported from Ukraine and can be found easily in the West.
IMHO only vodka made in Poland, Russia and Ukraine is worth drinking, everything else doesn't have vodka taste and is good only for mixing, but mixing vodka is a perversion.
As Neubob said - any "fruit-flavored" vodka is a fake, except maybe some lemon vodka made here in Russia. When I saw "strawberry" or "raspberry" Stolichnaya in the US I was really surprised: it wasn't made in Russia, the label lies.
Stolichnaya is a well-known brand, and it sometimes fools Western people here: I saw Finns buying Stoly that was obviously fake, while not even looking at excellent Sinopskaya or Mendeleev made by LIVIZ, SPb.

I am telling you, if you get a chance to try it:

It makes Grey Goose taste like syrup Skyy garbage

I'd love to try that. Too bad it's only in wisconsin though.
I never liked greygoose, drinking it always gave me the feeling I had cottonmouth.

My thoughts exactly.

Titos is the number 1 vodka in the world. It is made right here in Texas.

I really like the flavor of 3 Olives. What I hate (besides mixing vodka) is those quintuple distilled/filtered, no flavor but alcohol and water vodka's that have been all the rage. Bleh.

The Zubrowka I had was not clear, it was discoloured, I assume, by the blade of grass that is in the bottle. I had an older bottler though, with the older style label. The newer stock with the label I linked is clearer than the older stock. Perhaps the vodka saps the colour out of the grass over time? In any case it was an excellent vodka and I just finished by bottle of Zubrowka then. Very nice stuff.
-
I agree with Boroda hands down.
I can no longer tolerate Absolut.
I always have Belvedere on hand. In a pinch, Stoli works for me.

Another good vodka is Monopolowa polish potato vodka. It's not as pure as some like Chopin or Grey Goose but it has a very distinct taste and texture. Makes a helluva vodka martini. :aok

titos vote here.

meh distilled potatoes.

Britney Spear's favorite drink is a combo of Vodka, NyQuil, and Red Bull.
Can too much vodka perhaps make you go crazy??
_____________________________ ___________________________
-
What vodka out there is available in California and Better than Greygoose?
I've tried others that are cheaper and they are not as good as GG.
Greygoose orange flavor with Cranberry Juice is GREAT! I think Strawberry-cranberry juice and GG's Orange flavor is awesome!
But a nice Seven and Seven is always better :)

The one that was the basis for the thread, Kermit. It's available everywhere, and in my opinion, superior to the Goose. It really is a waste to mix it with anything, and I've never done so myself, but the reviews say it's a good mixer too. It's just a touch more expensive than Grey Goose, so if that's what you're accustomed to, I highly suggest you go out and try it.
-
My favorite vodka by far is Ciroc...it is made from grapes in france. It goes down very smooth to smooth in fact because the next thing you know your licking it of the table because you spilled a little (not me my friend) . Give it a try its about the same price wise as GreyGoose but way better..

Holy Crap Batman!!!! I finaly found a subject that I agree with Boroda on 100% :rofl I was over in Odessa Ukraine during the summer of 2001 and had some of the best vodka I have ever tasted anywhere. I don't remember the brand but the Electronics Officer onboard one of the Ukrainian Frigates had us drinking a pepper vodka that was amazing. I also got to try some of the lemon vodka from Russia and that was real good. I ended up bring home a case of the local stuff, but it's all gone now :( Need to get back over there some day. Between the vodka and all the six foot tall blonde women wearing see through summer dresses with nothing but a thong on, Odessa was a great port of call.
-
I'll agree with Boroda. I don't remember what brand the vodka was (something and a Lux) I brought from Moscow, but it was smooth and suitable to drink on it's own or on the rocks or with a blender. White label with a Russian word on it. :) I liked it a lot better than for example Finlandia vodka. :aok
-
I like StPetersburg....it's slightly sweet...very smooth.....and before realizing you (I) had way too much.
-
Why do you know what Britney Spears' favorite drink is?
Because I googled the word Vodka, and got a link to the info.
Do you not know that Britney Spears is the all time #1 person to be looked up on Google???
So much has been published about her online, that it is sometimes difficult for Google to not come up with a link related to her in some way.

Zyr Vodka
I'll be trying this vodka out as soon as I can get my hands on it. So far I can't find someone who carries it. I'll find it locally soon.
Time for a Southern Comfort and RedBull drink...
-
Give this a try, Neubob...

Some of the best vodka you can buy in a plastic bottle!
-
We filter rotgut vodka through a Britta a bunch of times, the stuff we get after it's all done does really well in our blind taste tests. It's a cheap experiment, and you might like the results.
-
I don't doubt that for a bit chairboy. With wine, 2 buck chuck usually wins blind taste tests even among wine snobs. Just don't let them see the bottle.
-
Another two great vodkas out there are Belvedere and Wyborowa. Both are Polish. The Belvedere is pretty common now with the "martini" crowd. Wyborowa is a little more difficult to find but well worth it!
And I definately have to agree with Boroda. Leave the fruit in the fruit basket! Although I'd be willing to try the pepper vodka.
Obie

Most popular pepper vodka is from Nemiroff: http://nemiroff.ua/ It's Honey-pepper, square bottles with red peppers inside: http://nemiroff.ua/vodka/medova/ IMHO it's a little bit overpriced here in Russia. You can easily find it, at least in "Russian deli" stores. I have seen it in California and Queensland.
My favorite Ukrainian vodka brand is Soyuz-Victan, http://www.sv.ua/en/main , especially their birch-bud stuff: http://www.sv.ua/en/products/nature/part110 It's one of the smoothest and tastiest vodka I have tasted.
Speaking about pepper vodka - beware, it's really hot! You have to chase it immediately with a pickle, sour cabbage, or other "vodka food", like herring, onions, salo etc. I like marinated marinated garlic scapes wrapped into thin slice of salo (salted pork lard).

I've had that before Neubob... it's not bad, but nothing to write home about.
Call me crazy, but the classics are still the best in my book...
Stolichnaya ( frozen bottle - a small twist of lemon rind... heaven )

Lastly... if you are looking for a real bargain...
Luksusowa is a Polish Potato Vodka that you can pick up for abou $20/liter, and it is actually VERY good. Don't let the price fool you... this stuff is excellent

What? No one like McCormicks? Half a gallon in a convienent non-breakable plastic bottle for $15, now thats a bargain!

Re: Pepper vodka
Beware! I got one bottle that was good and spicy, the way it should be, but another bottle from another company must have meant 'Bell Peppers' instead, and it was skunky and terrible. We 'donated' it to the campsite alcohol library, and the level was barely changed by the end of the weekend because it was so terrible. I ended up having to hide it in someones luggage so I wouldn't have to bring it back to my house.
In recap, capsicum: Good. Little Caesar's Salad Ingredient: Not so good.
