All kinds of new ways to wreck airplanes. Great fire and Pilot Wounds. Much more blood. And the broken nose gear strut is a nice touch.
All landing takes on an all new meaning...er...well....kinda :rofl

Was a good time in the TA last night as pilots tried to learn to fly the new bird. And some pilots tried to learn what would kill the new bird. :)
<S> Bighorn, really appreciate the time sir.

37mm hitting a GV makes a nice looking fireball. I used the 50s the most and only ran out of 37mm once.

Prop still spinning in the 2nd pic with nose down?

pretty fast! I just flew it without the wing pods and I was flying at 350 on deck shortly after takeoff.

What did HT set the ENY to on this baby? I haven't had a chance to get on yet.
P39 was my vote back in the day.

probably just didnt look close enough... the 39q aint a bad ride at all... but usually after a dog fight I get picked off... a bunch of kills in it but havent landed (thats my fault though)

About friggen time we got another target in the game :D

Now its time for hubsonfire to change his sig to, "The first time I saw a P39, I shot it down."

This.
I don't think there will be much to say for the 39 after everybody stops flying them and gets back to our old birds. However, I landed in like 400 feet with it.

The stall is very forgiving. It won't dip a wing almost, if you're on the ball. It'll spin out for sure, but when not in a spin condition the stall was almost like auto pilot, or a p38 stall, it just lost altitude without really showing much other response.
Note, I use rudder pedals so it's easier to stay on the ball. I do notice this plane takes 2-3x the rudder input of any other plane to stay centered.
Also, you can't pull back on the stick to lock the nose wheel, like the P-38! You pull back on the stick with the throttle open and your nose picks up off the ground!
Is that right? :huh

It can't reach 350 on the deck without diving down...

4 kills no deaths in my first brief trial of the P39Q. Not near enough time to get "the feel" for it but....
Surprisingly (sarcasm), I was fighting a spixteen, LA7, another P39Q, and PonyD. Now the opposing pile its might not have been the best, but the P39 brought the nose around very nicely in the diagonals. Experimented with flaps and throttle stall fighting etc. It felt better than many others on the edge. First impressions were good IMO. Final outcome: I landed safely, they did not.
This one may not go away as quickly as many new intros have. :salute

Are you all having the same gunsight issue as I am? In the -39Q and in the halftrack, the rounds fire way above the gunsight.

Can't say that I know much about the halftrack, the the 39-Q DEFINITELY fires HIGH! Noticed it today while munching on a Mossie Toolshedder. I use the bore-sight, and it's pretty obvious.

Not enough time to notice here yet. Not to mention this low end backup computer I have to use for the moment :(
I did use a lot of ammo to get a kill though. I attribute it to the new cockpit and first flight etc...I'll check it more closely tonight.

Goose, whatever your convergence is set for, bring up a target. The target is always North of you. Use .target 0 to get rid of it. Note that the pipper moves up and down if you zoom in and out (that took me a while to figure out!) so use the .target tool to put your mouse cursor where the rounds hit. Of course this means you waste ammo to center it.

This thing is certainly wobley on take off but other than that a very fun ride.
-
That P-39Q is a hoot. Im liking it a lot.

It seemed like a few of the views started off-center for me last night too, although ironically the 39Q seemed ok (I could just be so bad as to not notice). The most obvious was the twin-5" on the carrier . . . the crosshairs were about an inch from the bottom of my screen. 5" from the destroyer were not as bad, but definitely off center. I had to correct them and f10.
Could be a coincidence.

Thanks bud, I'm not the one having the issue really but I do forget about that target option. Think I'll play with that a bit and see what it tells me.
