I know you are frustrated but you are not the only customer and just looking through the bug forrum and tech support, there are at least 100 different problems that have been found with new update.I think the download was probably a fix for some of these. Give them time they will get to you.
Just quick questions might seem stupid but if aggrevated you might have over looked them.
You installed update after download (right).
Did you try restarting computer ( mine acts stupid likethis sometimes and that is what I need to do)?
Checkyour internet connection.
I am not an expert but these are some things you can try.

HTC is flooded with new Emails about the problems with this new patch and Im sure they are working extra hard to solve all them. They have done an exellent job so far(allready released patch 2). Dont worry HTC is not ignoring you. They will respond as soon as they can. :aok

I am going to guess it is a firewall issue as all software firewalls have to be set to re-allow Aces High II back through once a patch is applied.
I also answered all three of your emails.
-
No, not Firewall it has full access, still doing it!
-
Then remove the 'cache' folder and the 'skins' folders. If that does not fix it, then rename the 'settings' folder.
And you are sure you re-allowed the game back through the firewall AFTER the last patch?

Hehe. Just FYI, there is not a couple of hundred problems.

I was on this morning and it worked fine. I got booted off, and it said I needed to do a down load so I did it. Now it goes to my desktop after the loading up bar screen.

I am going to ask a series of questions here to try and help you. If you do not answer them, I cannot help.
Are you getting passed the login? If not, at what point does the game go back to the desktop, and be very specific.
Do you get the arena list?
Does the game dump you back when trying to connect to an arena?
Did you remove the 'cache' folder?
Did you re-allow the game back through the firewall after the patch?
Did you try removing the 'skins' folder.
I am asking about removing the folders above just in case you have any corruption occur.
Did you try renaming the 'settings' folder?
I am also assuming you allowed theauto-updater to install the patch. Was any anti-virus programs running at the time?
-
Are you getting passed the login? YES
Do you get the arena list? YES
Does the game dump you back when trying to connect to an arena? It does the page with the bar that moves from left to right, then it goes to my desktop.
Did you remove the 'cache' folder? far as I know, NO
Did you re-allow the game back through the firewall after the patch? YES has full access.
Did you try removing the 'skins' folder. NO
Did you try renaming the 'settings' folder? NO

Ok, in the game's "Video Settings", if you have any preload options checked, then uncheck them and let me know if that solves the problem.
-
Ok, that was it. Now is it better to run it on the 512 or the 1024?
Thanks for all the help!!
-
Let me explain why you were crashing to the desktop. Basically, your computer was taking too long to preload the textures after connecting to the arena. By making them smaller, it should reduce the preload time.
You might consider a defrag of the hard drive as well. Also check to see if you are having other resource issues. Make sure the CPU usage in the 'Processes' tab of the Task Manager is showing 0 to 1 percent usage and no higher.
For right now, I am going to close this as fixed.

I will correct myself here there are at least a hundred post on the forums (in tech support and bugs) about issues with update.
sorry about misconception.
