Hi all,
I recently returned to the game after three or so years away, and this "tour", I am trying out new rides, and really am enjoying doing so. In my past life in AH, I was always impressed with the great 38 sticks. I could never get the plane to perform the way some of the better people did. I admit that I didn't practice too hard, but still, could never quite get the feel for the plane.
This time around I have been mostly in 190 A-5's, Yak's, some 109F's, and a few others. What I would LOVE to do is get good in the 38.
My overall question is pretty broad: What advice (or sets of advice) can the P-38 drivers give in how to effectively use the aircraft in ACM? I really look forward to some solid tips/advice/tactics.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm just a tourist in the 38, but if you haven't done it yet, raise your view up to take advantage of that amazing gunsight. The 38 allows you to try some amazing deflection shots while still keeping the target in view.

For me, the trick is to keep the fight vertical and use the neutral torque characteristic to its fullest. Looping fights also work very well in the P-38J and L, as they almost always seem to be able to claw their way over the top with a brief blip of WEP. Also, learn to be very active with flaps control. Add a notch or two to get over the top, or cut a quick turn, then yank 'em back in when not needed to help keep your speed up.

If you don't mind dying repeatedly and have a complete disregard for success, score, and the health of your poor little cartoon pilot, and just general silliness I'm sure you can tag along with the 80th on one of our romps through the MA.

my only suggestion is to bring plenty of bandages and parachutes... and maybe a whole squadrons worth of planes for ur personal use! :rofl :rofl :rofl
i wish they would have accurately modeled the L model, was much better than it is in game IMHO.
and with that, i must be off to go lose another wing of planes :salute

Murdr is a great 38 stick + a trainer...so he's the right man for the job. But there are plenty of 38 sticks out there (me included) that will offer help....i just suck at explaining stuff
