Title: Tempest neutered now?
Post by: uptown on March 21, 2008, 12:58:09 PM
I took a Tempest up last night for the first time since the new patch came out, and it seems very nonrespondsive and heavy. The speed is still there but handling is very poor now....IMO.

And yet I routinely see them dive in at Mach 5 and instantaneously change directions for a kill shot in under 400 yards.

Yeah I believe nothing on the Tempest was changed for this patch, it might just be that you haven't flown one in awhile, or you just think in your mind that it has changed so it feels like it changed.

They neuter the Tempest in every version?  Wow.  Wonder what it was like ten versions ago...

Bwa ha ha ha! :rofl
I like that whole "fly too close to a Wirble and every thing neutered" bit.
It is kind of funny because I see alot of people circle a v-base now afraid to
dive in on the hangars because the pad is covered with Wirbles!  :rofl

I stay away from vbases now.  A few days ago I saw lazer go in, and he didn't come out

Per the read me file for 2.12

Changed maximum airspeed limitation for Tempest flaps and gear.

So, yes, it was tweaked and something did get changed.

You're flying it wrong.

So how does messing with the speed that gears and flaps come out make it "very nonrespondsive and heavy"?

If your slow enough to deploy flaps in a tempest in a fight then your to slow.

Point was, everyone was saying nothing was done to the Tempest in this upgrade.  The read me says otherwise.  Also, after working in the software industry for enough years to know how things go it is possible that something was indirectly effected.  I don't usually fly the Tempest so I couldn't tell you, but it obviously, by the read me, was modified this go around.  :aok

Other minor things were changed/fixed aswell not mentioned in the read me.
Such as the p39's gunsights, the auto take off isnt as violent, and its not ubber at 12k anymore. :(

So yeah, things got changed here and there.

Thing is that every time theres an update someone says that a plane that was updated or had something changed that doesnt effect the flight model is porked and doesnt fly right.

True, and sometimes they are right and sometimes they aren't.

Nothing changed.
It seems "he changed", but the plane didn't.
