Title: Laundry list of bugs
Post by: Krusty on March 22, 2008, 01:36:34 AM
A6M2: When wings are both gone the fuel still leaks from those fuel tanks then switches to the center tank.

C47: I was at near max speed, trimmed for level flight but flying manually. I engaged autopilot when already near-level and the entire plane shuddered up and down for about 1.5 to 2 seconds before assuming auto-level. I didn't think much of it. Later in same sortie, same situation appeared and it repeated itself.

CV: CV now runs at 40mph. Too fast for torps? Use to be around 30mph, per sitting-on-deck-bringing-up-E6B tests. Now is an even 40mph. Railing around elevator deck seems to be a crash hazard. Elevator would be UP and railing RETRACTED during operations. Should not be there as a penalty to those taking off or landing. Ship wake often looks curved even though ship is heading straight

P-39D: I rolled a P-39D with a centerline bomb, so I lowered 2 notches of flaps to help my takeoff. I could barely take off. I had to level out (I had forgotten I lowered them) and was barely able to maintain level flight. In auto climb It took me over a minute to reach 500 feet. Plane creates more lift WITHOUT flaps??? Perhaps some sort of bug at work. These are not very efficient flaps historically, but they should at least be like a p40 or spit, where the split flap adds lift. Seems no benefit at all in P-39D when most needed (heavier load). EDIT: Did 2300+ fpm once flaps retracted, almost instantly.

Cvs really are faster! You can barely catch them with pt boats.

In addition to Krusty's P-39D bug, I think I found one on the P-39Q.
Got into a fight, took damage to the right flap (they were not down when I got hit), place wanted to yaw to the left like the left wing or part of it was missing.
Impossible to trim the bird, but I managed to get her back to base.  Even with WEP, max speed after the "damage" was only 200mph or so.  Will send film to HTC if they are interested.

It doesn't look like task group speed has changed. They have always sped up during a turn and returned to 34.5 mph after the new course is stabilized. It only takes a few minutes for it to return to cruising speed.

Carrier:
No wake in front of the carrier is the only thing I think needs to be fixed.  I do not see any issue w/ the things Krusty deems as such, as far as the carrier goes.

I would like to see smoke coming out of the stack though.

lotta CV bugs it seems Heres one: A rook CV (C200) was actually Stuck this morning.  The cv would not move for a few minutes and then instantly it was half-way across the map with a course starting at it's current location to attack a base (almost like it had an automated course).

P39Q when both gas tanks are hit, both of their gas streams come out of the right side.

Planes are still losing wings etc and fighting on as if nothing happened.

No, it's a bug.

^-- if it happens 1 or 2 times it's a bug. If it happens every time?    :noid

Anyways, regarding CV speeds: the speed I noted was while not turning. The fleet is much faster than it used to be. I almost crashed on takeoff during FSO in a6ms last 2 times because I wasn't used to it. The plane pulled off the deck before it was past the tower! It was freaky.

I noticed same thing Krusty in FSO and the MA with the carriers. Tried to up a B5n with torp in MA right after ship completed it's turn and was verified running straight. Got almost to tower then lifted up, it threw me into a sharp bank into the island. :cry Tried again with same results. I then upped an sbd heavy and had no problem at all. Squadies had all upped sbd's at same time i was trying to up my B5n and had no problems but my lighter plane lifted to soon due to the extra cv speed.

Perhaps the carrier was in a slight turn, and would therefor still be runing faster than norm.
Thing is, how much does the carrier need to be turning* to speed up?

maby that would help.

Actually, the carrier slows down during a turn and turns sharper. The CA stays about the same and turns wider. Inside DDs nearly stop and outside ones turn on the afterburners. CVs in straight lines are much faster than before.

Krusty, it's a bug when repeatable on any system (unless it's a bug associated with a piece of hardware). Otherwise, the h-word applies. :D

Not sure the CV speed is a bug but might be intended to be that way for gameplay? CV-6 (Enterprise) had a top speed of 33 knots which is about 38mph IIRC. Not sure about other carriers of that time.

the LA7 has quite a list of things that could be fixed.

the compass
the airspeed indicated
the red handles for the three cannons don't need to be there in flight.
Saw a picture of 2 cannon LA7 without the big red handles, the little red levers were there though it was B&W.
