After installing the new hires pack, in what folders and what should one find to verify that the install went to the right place? In other words to verify correct installation.

Save the default skin of one of the new or updated planes. If the bitmaps are not 1024x1024 in size, then you did not install the high resolution pack and/or do not have the game running with the "Maximum Texture Size" set to 1024.

See if this makes sense.
In C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\cache folder I am showing a "hirestex" folder dated yesterday.
Is that correct placement?

Jackal, if you installed the AHHIRES213.EXE file, then the high resolution textures are installed. You just have to set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 1024 in the game's "Video Settings" to activate it. If you set the "Maximum Texture Size" to anything less, then it is de-activated.

OKie doke. Was just hoping it was installed wrong or something. <sigh> Back to the minifreezes.

Minifreezes can be caused or exaggerated by the high resolution texture pack. To test the theory, set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256 and run it for a bit.
